00:00In the upcoming state election of 2025, polling centers will serve as polling malls here in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
00:09This is what Rod Lagusan reported.
00:13For the first time, polling centers will serve as polling malls in the national and local elections next year
00:20due to the pilot testing of mall voting.
00:22And for it to be effective, a mall must agree to use their facility.
00:28Technically, when we say mall voting, that mall will become a voting center.
00:33So, there is a transfer of voting center.
00:35So, there needs to be a public consultation, there needs to be an agreement.
00:42If there is no agreement, at least a memorandum of agreement between political parties for them to transfer the voting center.
00:51Voters registered in the so-called mall will receive individual notices from the Commonwealth
00:57that their voting center has been transferred to the school.
01:01Your voting center has been transferred from your regular voting center in school to the mall.
01:10But it's not that easy.
01:12But once you've been transferred, that's your voting center.
01:15So, for example, SM Manila.
01:17If your voting center is there, and you were there in the last election, you're already there.
01:21Unless in the future, Manila decides to renovate it.
01:27The pilot testing of mall voting for the next year for the Barangay and SK Elections has already started
01:33in several malls in Metro Manila.
01:34It is expected that 14 malls here in NCR will be tested.
01:38In total, more than 50 malls in the country will be tested here.
01:42Meanwhile, the number of registered voters in Metro Manila has increased to 7,581,000.
01:49This is higher than 19,000 compared to the 2023 Barangay and SK Elections.
01:54There are 6 new barangays in Metro Manila from our Barangay Bagong Silang in Caloocan City.
01:59They have already completed the so-called project or precincts here.
02:03This is the basic document of an election office that requires a candidate, an observer, or a voter.
02:11So, that's what we're facing.
02:13If the barangay where Phase 1 and Phase 2 are in line, they should be there.
02:17But how come in their voter registration, there's no face?
02:20So, they're doing it one by one.
02:22So, out of 82,000 registered voters, there are about 500 like that.
02:26And when it comes to Embo Barangays, which is now a part of Taguig City,
02:30they still chose their voting center because the territory hasn't changed, it's just a jurisdiction.
02:35Rod Lagusan, for Pambansang TV in the new Philippines.
