00:00Welcome to Balkan Trip, a show that introduces you to the tourist destinations of natural beauty, but also the hidden gems of the Balkan Peninsula.
00:12Today we are going to the north of Serbia. We present you a lake whose legend about its origin is the imagination of all the visitors.
00:19We also present you the Synagogue, one of the most beautiful in Europe, but we also take you to a manifestation that celebrates Gundeva. Let's go!
00:30On some 130 kilometers northeast of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, is Kikinda, a city that will charm you with its warmth and hospitality.
00:39And if you come here at the end of September, you will feel a special energy of a magical manifestation.
00:45Do you know what Gundeva associates with you? I don't know, because it was Gundeva who chose to transform his magical carriage.
00:51And one such carriage drives us on crazy days in Kikinda, a manifestation that celebrates this queen in the fall.
00:59In Kikinda, for a crazy day, everything is in orange color, because it is a crazy day, that is, Gundeva is orange.
01:05The city tried to be able to experience, not only to see that color, but also to experience it at every step, through different tastes,
01:12through different sounds, through different events that are happening here, but, of course, everything is in honor of the great Banat beauty of Gundeva.
01:24What is interesting is that this is the only manifestation in the city and the only Gundeva that is measured here.
01:32The results are given by the World Association of Gundeva Builders, and, of course, the difficulties are really great.
01:39Gundeva has always been a protective sign of the Serbian plains and today, due to its extremely healing properties, it is widely used in food.
01:47Perhaps today it is more often used as a mascot in marking certain dates, such as the night of Vestica, in the culture of Western countries, but often also as a candy.
01:57In Serbia, there is a unique event dedicated to Ludaj, as in this part of the country called Gundeva.
02:06When you come to Kikinda, be sure to visit the National Museum, where you will see the mammoth Kika, but also a tooth of a mammoth.
02:13I think the bottom three is right.
02:15It was found in 1996 here in Kikinda, in the factory Toza Marković, in clay, 20 meters deep clay.
02:22It was a great discovery for Kikinja, but also for paleontology.
02:27We named it Kika, because it was found in Kikinda, and since then it does not cease to be the popularity of our Kika.
02:36Something else attracts the attention of visitors to Kikinda, the Tera museum, which is a unique link of contemporary art and tradition.
02:46A place where a new artistic future is created.
02:49Tera museum in Kikinda is a museum that has the largest contemporary collection of sculptures of large format in baked clay in the world.
02:57There are 1200 sculptures and in the museum there is one third of the collection.
03:04The idea was that every author who participated in the symposium should present at least one sculpture.
03:14Kikinda is perhaps a small town in the north of Serbia, but it is full of history and lost cultures.
03:19One of them is Suvača, a dry mill from which flour was obtained.
03:24Suvača is important because it is one of the three remaining in this part of Europe.
03:29The wind did not move, so it was not a windmill, water did not move, there was no tap, horses did not move.
03:41About 85 kilometers northwest of Kikinda is located Subotica, a city that was first mentioned in written documents in 1391, under the name Zabatka.
03:52Interestingly, this city has changed more than 200 names throughout history.
03:57And in this city is located a beautiful synagogue, which is special in many ways.
04:07This building is considered by size the second largest Jewish temple in Europe, in the style of the Hungarian Secession.
04:17It certainly is one of the pearls of the Secession of Subotica.
04:28At home of Subotica there is a beautiful Paličko lake, known for its beauty and numerous recreational activities.
04:35Let's hear the story how this lake was created, in which the water is salty.
04:40Paličko lake was mentioned in 1492. According to the legend, it was created from the Pannonian, our beautiful sea.
04:49Let's go back to the legend that Paličko lake was created from the tears of pastor Pavle, who just came here to drink his sweet.
05:00Paličko lake is surrounded by interesting and magical buildings from the time of the Hungarian Secession.
05:07The large water tower, which is a symbol of Palič, the chapel that leads to the lake shore and all these objects that are of exceptional importance for our city, for Palič.
05:18I would like to show you the Sovino tower.
05:22In addition to the large terraces and the Olympic village, I must not forget the women's beach, which was built a little more than a century ago.
05:34It had the primary role to protect the women swimmers from the intense gaze of male passers-by.
05:44In the immediate vicinity of the lake there is an attractive zoo, in which most animals walk freely in the fenced parts of the park, which makes this place very interesting, especially for the youngest.
05:58We have over a hundred species of animals, a little more than 500 individuals.
06:03We make sure that there are as few barriers as possible, that as barriers we use natural flows, i.e. water channels that come out of Paličko lake,
06:14so that especially in the park environment, visitors can enjoy a pleasant walk.
06:22The shore of the lake is 17 kilometers long and here you can enjoy a long walk next to the lake, ride a bicycle, but also try local wine with music that seems to stop the time.
06:52It is important that there used to be the Pannonian Sea, so the climate, although we are in the north of Serbia, is not cold.
07:01It is quite windy, because our vineyards are located in the heart, i.e. between three lakes.
07:07We have phenomenal results with our red wines. We have extremely fresh, fruity, aromatic white wine.
07:15Our land has a lot of sand, clay, limestone. It even has yellow and black soil.
07:21Our 62 hectares of land is very mixed, which allowed us to have 12 different labels.
07:31Welcome to the Balkans with Kosovo
