Police confirm death of 74-year-old man after 'severed head' found following bus collision on Edinburgh street

00:00Police Scotland have confirmed that a 74 year old man has sadly died following a collision
00:06with a bus in the Cowgate area of Edinburgh. The incident happened just after 7.30pm last
00:12night and officers received reports of a severed head being discovered in the street just behind
00:16me here. Several streets around the area were closed and nightclubs were forced to evacuate
00:21as revellers were sent home for the night while a full scale police investigation got
00:25underway. Forensic teams and detectives were seen scouring the street right through the
00:30night but sadly just in the last hour police have confirmed the death. In a statement Sergeant
00:35Louise Brill from the road policing unit in Edinburgh said that extensive enquiries are
00:40ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and that they're appealing
00:44for anyone who was in the area that's seen anything or has any CCTV to please contact
00:49them immediately. As well as that Chief Inspector Tricia Clark who's the local commander for
00:54this part of the capital has said that they're aware of images and videos that have been
00:57circulating on social media and have asked anybody to stop doing so out of respect for
