00:00Welcome back. The Spanish authorities announced on November 1st the incorporation of 500 members
00:05of the army to face the consequences left by the meteorological phenomenon
00:09Dana in the province of Valencia. The Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles,
00:14said that 300 soldiers from the army are already working since the 800 hours in the Valencian
00:20community. One of the affected areas is the community of Chiva, which registered the record
00:26rainfall during Dana and since Tuesday its inhabitants have been without electricity,
00:31water and telephone communications.
00:39There are people injured, there are still people trapped and we have to try to rescue them.
00:44The emergency services are helping but it's true that we want to go and help too and we can help
00:50a lot there because many hands are needed. The emergency services are finding it very difficult
00:56to get in, though especially ambulances that are trapped by traffic jams.
01:02We went to see how we could help the fire services and they told us that what they needed to do was
01:09to open roads so that they could enter and distribute their aid. So because there were
01:15so many people on the main streets it made their work very difficult but they need help.
01:23In addition, thousands of people from different regions of Spain have joined the cleaning task
01:27in the search for missing people in the areas affected by the floods. Volunteers went to the
01:32affected areas to clean and drain the water after the strong floods that have left municipalities
01:38and towns devastated. They are also participating in the search for missing people together with
01:42the security forces. Meanwhile the cold drop is still active and several areas in the provinces
01:47of Valencia and CastellĂłn as well as Tarragona and Barcelona are under a yellow warning from the
01:53state weather agency AMET, while in the Balearic Islands the warning is orange.
02:00We have come to help a group of friends of mine because we do not live in this area. We live in
02:04an area that fortunately has not been affected. We have come to bring water, cans of tuna, what we
02:09could and remove mud, water to help our friends and people we have seen around.
02:15We have come to help as much as we can. We have cleaned the garage, we have taken trash out of
02:20the water, out of some houses where they couldn't take out the trash because the people are older
02:25and that is why we, young people, have to come to help and help each other because right now there
02:31is no one to help us. What is happening looks like a scary movie. In Honduras authorities have issued
02:38an alert given the proximity and likelihood of storm brewing in the Caribbean of becoming a
02:42hurricane. The Secretariat of Risk Management and National Contingencies have issued a preventive
02:47alert for several departments in the country likely to be hit by the storm. They have alerted
02:52border areas with El Salvador and Nicaragua to remain vigilant and take measures to protect the
02:57population, especially the most vulnerable sectors. The Secretariat of Risk Management
03:02and Contingencies has warned communities in areas prone to landslides and floods to take
03:06preventive measures in addition to evacuating people to safe places.
