00:00New research by the Nighttime Industries Association has revealed that the UK could see nightclubs
00:06go extinct by 2029. Over the past four years, the UK has seen 37% of its nightclubs close.
00:13This works out at about 10 every month.
00:15The cost of living crisis and nighttime industries having to battle with rising operational costs
00:20are two factors attributed to so many nightclub closures. Earlier this year, the NTIA conducted
00:25a poll of 500 nighttime businesses and found that 7 out of 10 of them are either barely breaking even
00:31or are operating at a loss. Following the Chancellor's Autumn Budget, Lyle Bignan,
00:36NTE Ambassador for Birmingham, called the budget a quote, act of willful vandalism.
00:42He then went on to say that while the sector welcomes more support for workers,
00:46that quote, the irony of the PM enjoying hospitality at our arenas and stadiums,
00:51yet ignoring calls from the industry, has not been lost on us. But what do you think?
00:56How would you feel if your favourite nightclub closed?
00:58And what do you think could revive the nighttime economy?
