00:00Your blocking assignments you do really well with, have you done anything in like
00:06this season to be as good as you are right now in your blocking assignments?
00:12I'd say like probably being more reckless, probably yeah just that
00:21honestly, just going into the game and going into the defense knowing that you
00:28know the defenders are bigger stronger and faster you know I just just really
00:33just throw my body in and don't really care about anything but getting the job
00:38done you know it's kind of like not safe but yeah. Last year when Trey Hendrickson
00:45would just say that he just saw red they would call it blackout Trey is it kind
00:50of like blackout Eric in a way? I can't kind of be I can't be like that that
00:57reckless because I got to make sure I get leverage and then I got to make sure
01:01I track the hip and all that so I I can't be as reckless as I want to be
01:06like how Trey was explaining like but sometimes like there is place where you
01:10can like just go in there and just just see red and just try to kill him but but
01:17I can't do it on every play sadly. These last few months being around Joe Burrow
01:22what how has your relationship progressed with him? I say um you know
01:28Joe is Joe you know he's you know he keeps uh he's real serious he's been
01:33busy he's like a businessman and you know I try to you know like stay serious
01:39with him and you know like I just anytime where I have a question or like
01:47just have a question about like a different nuances and how he likes like
01:51emotion or or a different like timing on routes things like that um you know I
01:58can just I just go up and ask him instead of you know going to the coach
02:02whereas like when I first got here I'll just go up to the coach because I just
02:06want to stay out of his way because you know he has a million things to worry
02:08about and you know and he's you know it's real serious so but now I'm like
02:14kind of like getting more comfortable around him. When did you know that you
02:19had reached like that comfort level with Joe where you could just go up and
02:22ask him anything? I don't know I feel like it was like two points where like
02:32like how do I like the coaches would tell me to do something and then he'll
02:37tell me to do something different and I'd be like all right well I'm gonna let
02:41me just go up and not talk to Joe and see how he likes it so I was just like
02:44I'm gonna just just go up and talk to him and see what he says so that happened
02:50by like week two week three maybe so. Well I feel like it would be more
02:56important to follow what Joe wants because he's the one throwing the ball
02:58right so from your perspective it's like I got to do what what the quarterback
03:02wants me to do. Exactly and my tight end coach told me that he was like just do
03:06whatever he tells you to do so now you know I just go up and ask him and make
03:11sure that we're on the same page. On the defensive side of the ball they have a
03:16vocal leader like Mike Hilton who will kind of call them out if they don't do
03:20their jobs correctly is there anyone like that on the offensive side of the
03:23ball that you've noticed? Oh yeah well for me is Drew you know he makes he's
03:29like he's like a perfectionist he's almost like he does everything like like
03:35how it's supposed to be done like on and off the field but you know he's just
03:40he's like that on on the field with me and he's been like that before like at
03:46practice and really the only time he got on to me was in practice one time but in
03:51the game is it's been smooth so yeah. Obviously coming into this team you
03:57probably knew about their success that they had been having especially with
04:00guys like Jamar Chase, Joe Burrow guys like that what what would you say
04:05frustrates you personally the most about being three and five and not seeing the
04:09expected success that everyone was you know looking to see this year? I'd say
04:14what frustrates me the most is just how close we are you know to winning and
04:20then we just lose and you know just really it's more of just losing you know
04:25whether it's by 20 or by one it's it stinks and I hate it and you know really
04:33you just got to dial in and you know focus on like little things that you
04:37need to fix in the game and get it done. Last question for you I know you got to
04:43go where do you pull your motivation from to continue coming in even if you
04:48are in a spot where you don't necessarily want to be where do you pull
04:52that motivation from to keep coming in and being the same guy every day? I just
04:56I really honestly just truly love the game and enjoy coming in the building
05:01and being with you know my teammates and getting to know them and and you know
05:06it's still a lot of the guys I you know don't know and don't really talk to as
05:10much as I would like but just just waking up and coming in and you know
05:16seeing football and playing football and living the dreams motivates me that and
05:20then you know also my son so. How old is your son? I didn't know you had one. Yeah he's two
05:26yeah his name's Houston yeah
05:36you
