00:00Hello, my name is Olivia. I'm Jo Bowery.
00:19Hi, I'm Emily. My name's James Connolly.
00:22My name is Nicole McBride. My name is Chris Cortner.
00:25I'm a journalist at Derby World.
00:27I'm a press officer at Wales Online.
00:29Early today I have been out of the office covering a major NHS board meeting
00:33which could have huge implications for the future of Liverpool Women's Hospital
00:37which is a really hot topic at the moment in this city.
00:39What I love about writing for Derby World is you can cover all sorts of content.
00:44So right through from fashion to reviews, interviewing local council leaders.
00:50Today I'm outside West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds
00:53where I'm going to a trust board meeting of the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
00:58Today I'm covering things like plenary and committee hearings
01:01and all the things that happen here in the Welsh Parliament.
01:04That's incredibly important because lots of people would never come to this building.
01:07Lots of people don't tune in to watch proceedings.
01:09It's our job as journalists to make sure that the people of Wales and beyond
01:13know what happens here in the home of Welsh democracy.
01:15Journalism plays an important role in ensuring the story gets across to people online and in print.
01:20I love my job at Yorkshire Post because I get the freedom to go out and about in Yorkshire today
01:25asking people about trending news of the day.
01:27I am in Inverness today and I am working on the five biggest issues facing the Highlands.
01:32I think journalism is important because it gives people access to a platform
01:36where they'll be heard by thousands of people.
01:39It's especially important for rural locations like this one
01:42to make sure they're connected to the rest of their nation.
01:45Journalism is an industry that deserves far more love and appreciation
01:49than it gets.
01:50Local journalism is even more important.
01:52Reporting from the ground, speaking to people in person.
01:55A newspaper is just like a river running through the heart of its community.
02:00Journalism is important because we hold the powers that be to account
02:04and we represent people's voices in the community.
02:07It really matters to people in communities because it gives them a voice.
02:10I'm reporting on things that really impact on people's lives.
02:13It can expose wrongdoing and spark change.
02:17As journalists, it's our job to raise questions and encourage debate.
02:22And that's why journalism matters.
