The film is based on the forensic novel by Qin Ming titled "The Forensic Doctor." The story follows Qin Ming (played by Yan Yikuan), known as "The Forensic Doctor with a Heart of Buddha," who has conducted over 1,000 autopsies without error. However, he inadvertently discovers that the "Silent Professor," who has been preserved in formalin for six years, has been murdered, raising doubts about his work and placing him at the center of public debate. Following the clues left on the body, Qin Ming, with the help of intern assistant Jia Jia (played by Dai Si) and investigation team leader Lin Tao (played by Geng Le), uncovers the secrets behind a murder case buried for 16 years, the "Silent Professor" case, and the mystery behind the lung explosion of a man working in the IT field. After going through a series of upheavals, Qin Ming ultimately becomes a "Messenger of Life and Death," fighting for the rights of both the deceased and the living.
