00:17I feel like I can't breathe.
00:20We find him at the height of his career.
00:22He's a commentator, a pundit on CNN.
00:25He writes for Harper's and Atlantic.
00:27He teaches at UPenn.
00:29He is a very suave, cool man who's living his best life.
00:34He's on top of the world.
00:35You got a handle for everything.
00:38He's modeled after these pundits that are respected, at times challenged, even by their own communities.
00:44Sometimes looked at as being not black enough, and then to some folks too black.
00:49He was someone who was definitely an activist when he was younger.
00:52He moved into a different echelon, and then became a bit of a superstar.
00:55And he's a little bit removed from the communities that he was advocating for.
00:58For every person like you who stops doing the work to go on TV and merely talk about it, no offense.
01:04And then he's accused of murdering a white supremacist.
01:08And he's on the run to try to figure out what is happening.
01:11I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and now they want to put this on me.
01:15Along the way, Muncie discovers a conspiracy and realizes it's much bigger than he ever thought.
01:21He's at a crossroads, and he's trying to solve a crime, but at the same time he's trying to solve something inside himself.
01:27Madness is a kind of metaphor for the world that we're in now, the social media world.
01:32You wake up every day and you read various headlines, and we're in a sort of world where the notion of objectivity is really hard to come by.
01:39As we navigate our way through all the information that's coming at us 24-7.
01:43You know, viewers respond to feelings. They want something to be outraged about.
01:48Muncie actually believes to his core, if people sit at a table, that they can get things done.
01:54That they can talk to one another.
01:56I think he really does believe that.
01:58The madness is really examining the climate that we're in right now, and trying to tell us to think about that.
02:04Who sows those seeds of disinformation? Who's puppeteering all of this?
02:08That's why Muncie is going through different sects of society to find out what's going on.
02:12What's important is the notion of how to declutter in order to find out what you care about amidst it all.
