00:00I am providing ÂŁ6.7 billion of capital investment to the Department for Education next year,
00:06a 19% real-terms increase on this year.
00:12That includes ÂŁ1.4 billion to rebuild over 500 schools in the greatest need, including
00:19St Helens Primary School in Hartlepool and Mercia Academy in Derby, and so many more
00:25across our country.
00:28We will provide £2.1 billion more to improve school maintenance—£300 million more than
00:35this year—ensuring that all our children can learn somewhere safe, including dealing
00:41with rack-affected schools in the constituencies of my right hon. Friends Watford, Stourbridge,
00:49Hindburn and beyond.
00:52Alongside investment in new teachers and funding through thousands of new breakfast clubs,
00:58this Government are giving our children and young people the opportunities that they deserve.
