In Tucson, Arizona, volunteers canvass to try to persuade voters to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the state constitution. But abortion sentiment in this state shows there is little consensus among voters.

00:00You need any voting information?
00:03No, I'm educated.
00:05Oh, wonderful.
00:06I am educated.
00:07Do you want to take a photograph?
00:09Yeah.
00:10They're saying if you don't get it by Friday,
00:12that's all.
00:13They're saying by Friday.
00:14My voting doc, right there, is 19-
00:18Sounds like a-
00:19Yeah.
00:20Four pages on my ballot?
00:21Front and back.
00:22There are two front and back.
00:23I've got two.
00:25And incite anger.
00:27It's very important.
00:30Do you need any information on the propositions or on 139?
00:36Because we don't do any voiceovers.
00:38So, basically, people need to kind of understand what you're talking about.
00:42Good, good.
00:45You're welcome.
00:46Thank you for voting.
00:47Yeah.
00:48Federally, that right is not protected, right?
00:51And so, to keep this from continuing to take resources,
00:55take time to try to protect women and protect families,
00:58we need to enshrine this in the Constitution here.
01:01Otherwise, it will be every two years we're voting to keep basic health care
01:05for women and for families.
01:07Women that are dying from these abortion bans for not getting care for
01:12miscarriage, that's factual, so you can't separate them.
01:15It's no longer about trying to convince people,
01:18oh, morally this is how you should feel about it.
01:20Factually, these bans are killing women.
01:23The initiative is something that gives back to women
01:28their rights to their own bodies.
01:41I'll be voting against the abortion thing just because I'm pro-life.
01:47I believe in the sanctity of life.
01:49I believe in exceptions, much like President Trump,
01:52but I do think that we need to protect life whenever we can.
02:08Proposition 139, the Arizonans for Abortion Access.
02:14I think that the polls show that it's much more complicated,
02:17that it's a more divisive issue within each party.
02:22And so it will be, for Arizonans, part of their political calculation,
02:27but it is not going to be the thing that decides whether Democrats
02:30or Republicans win the state of Arizona.
