00:00Department of Agriculture, DA Secretary Francisco Tularel warned that those who manipulate the pricing of goods will be penalized
00:06with the strict imposition of the Price Act.
00:09This amid the still high prices of rice in markets despite an executive order reducing the import tariffs on the staple grain.
00:17The DA earlier consulted with some rice importers and based on the meeting,
00:22importers have already brought down the price of rice to 38 pesos per kilo
00:26and it is allegedly the rice traders who are selling rice at a higher price.
00:31If this is true, DA Chief says the staple grain should only be at 45 pesos a kilo.
00:37Because of this, the Agricultural Chief will meet with the leaders of big markets in Metro Manila
00:42to determine the root cause of the problem.
