00:00There's a lot of travel disruption in Greater Manchester, so let's get into it.
00:04Hi and welcome to Manchester World, my name's Theo Houston-Betts and this video is your
00:07transport update for this week in and around Manchester.
00:09Firstly, there are no trams operating across any lines before 9am this Sunday due to essential
00:14works taking place on the Metrolink.
00:16After 9 some services will resume, but the full timetable won't be back in action until
00:20around 10.30pm.
00:21There will not be bus replacements for these works.
00:24Also this Sunday, the Bury to Piccadilly line will be closed all day due to required works.
00:29This should resume on Monday and don't fret too much because bus replacements will be
00:32in operation for this line.
00:33Speaking of buses, there's a new one in operation as of yesterday with Wigan now connected to
00:37Middlebrook Retail Park.
00:39Importantly, the 6.15 bus goes via Welly and Aspel Bolton Road, ensuring the parts of Greater
00:43Manchester that had not been serviced by buses now have more access to the surrounding areas.
00:47Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham tweeted his pleasure at seeing the new route take
00:50off yesterday, but the former Labour MP also took to Twitter to voice his displeasure at
00:54the services currently being offered by Northern Rail, who find themselves constantly having
00:58to cancel or delay services due to lack of staff and other issues.
01:02Last Sunday was the latest in a series of Sundays that have seen travel on entire routes
01:06be cancelled completely, leaving some stranded without any form of travel, while constant
01:10delays in the mornings can affect commutes and business meetings.
01:14The Mayor has called for a meeting of the Rail North Committee for tomorrow to discuss
01:17Northern Rail's service, and we'll keep you updated on the outcome of that.
01:20Finally, we're looking ahead to the future here, and Stockport is set to be struck by
01:23some huge traffic disruption, with Green Street, Mersey and Wait and Shoreheath set to be closed
01:27for a full year from March 2025 due to works that are required to replace the structure
01:31running over the railway line.
01:34Diversions are already in place, with rail closures required during Easter, Summer and
01:37Autumn of next year.
01:38Rail replacement buses will likely operate to ensure that passengers, who would usually
01:41be on one of the around 400 passenger trains that pass through each day, will not be overly
01:46inconvenienced.
01:47Some works will start as soon as November 30th to prepare for closures, with disruption
01:51expected on the 30th, and then each but the first three Saturdays in December.
01:56That's all for now, we hope this has been a help to you.
