As China steps up countermeasures against Taiwan in response to the latest U.S. arms sale, Reuters has reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping asked U.S. President Joe Biden at their meeting last year in San Francisco to change the U.S. policy on Taiwanese independence to one of strict opposition.
