00:02If so, I would love to introduce you to the oldest temple fair in Bangkok, Ngan Wat Phu Khao Thong
00:07Ngan Wat Phu Khao Thong or the Golden Mount Temple Fair Festival is an annual event held in November,
00:12typically about a week before Loi Krathong Day at Saket Temple.
00:15The fair originated in early Rattanakosin period as a form of water festival initiated by King Rama I,
00:21following a tradition that dates back to the Ayutthaya period.
00:23Wat Saket Temple Fair reached its peak popularity during the reign of King Rama V
00:28when the Golden Mount was complete and the Buddha relics were gifted to Thailand by the Indian government
00:32later enshrined on the Golden Mount.
00:34To celebrate this significant event, King Rama V commanded a grand celebration
00:38that lasted for seven days and seven nights.
00:40This tradition has continued as an annual festival until this day.
00:43At the fair, the Golden Mount is adorned with a massive piece of red fabric.
00:46Visitors can enjoy a variety of street food, games, a haunted house,
00:50cultural performances, and other activities throughout the event.
