00:00Let's take a little peek in at some of the big races for next week.
00:07Alexa, three of the biggest races on Saturday are going to be the Breeders' Cup Distaff,
00:11the Breeders' Cup Turf, and the Breeders' Cup Classic.
00:13They're actually going to go as races 6, 7, and 8 because the schedule has been altered
00:17a little bit for television.
00:18We want to make sure that everybody can see the main events and the really big races on
00:22Saturday.
00:23So, let's talk a little bit about the Breeders' Cup Distaff.
00:26The way it's shaped up throughout most of the year now, it kind of feels like we have
00:31a real top two.
00:33You've got the best of the three-year-old fillies.
00:34That's been Torpedo Anna all year long.
00:36She faced the boys and she's just dominated her division.
00:40And then you've got Idiomatic, last year's winner, who's been an older horse in the older
00:44filly and mare division.
00:46So you've got kind of what we hope for in the Breeders' Cup, where you get this matchup
00:49of horses in different age groups coming together.
00:53Really does feel like those are the top two.
00:55It really does.
00:56So, Idiomatic, such a player.
00:58Like you said, won this last year.
01:00Pretty much all 17 races, she's won.
01:03She's gone to the lead 17 races.
01:06She's won.
01:07I mean, this is a powerhouse horse.
01:08You know, she's gone to the lead and wired the field, so going to be a major player.
01:12Like you said, Torpedo Anna, that is probably the horse I'm personally most excited to watch.
01:17She just showed us so much grit when she went up against the boys in the Traverse in August
01:22and just barely lost.
01:23It was painful, but very exciting.
01:26The other one I am interested in is Raging Sea in here, another interesting contender
01:30who's coming off of three straight wins.
01:32Yeah, she's at least shown that she can jump up and compete with those top couple when
01:36the race circumstances are to her liking.
01:38So it does feel like we have that top two, but as happens in horse racing, when crazy
01:43things happen, maybe those two go after each other early and it could set up for someone
01:47coming from off the pace a little bit.
01:49There's a little early preview of the Distaff.
01:51Let's flip to the Breeders' Cup turf.
01:53This one feels a little bit more wide open here, I think, especially when you have a
01:57lot of European horses.
01:59You have horses coming from Japan.
02:00You and I were talking before we started about Shariar, who was very good last year and makes
02:05an awesome appearance out on track.
02:07Who are a couple of the horses that you wanted to mention in the turf?
02:10Yeah, this race in the past 25 years, 20 of the winners have come from Europe and in the
02:16past 10 years, seven of them have been European horses who are making their first start in
02:20the US ever in the Breeders' Cup.
02:23So, I mean, European racing long on the turf, that's just what they do best and they tend
02:27to come and dominate us in this race.
02:29But Rebels Romance has entered here, who won this race in 2022, didn't return last year,
02:35but is coming back and has had a really powerful six-year-old year, winning four out of five
02:40of his starts this year, three of them group ones all overseas.
02:43So that'll be interesting to see him run again.
02:46And like you said, Shariar, interesting contender from the Japanese contingent who finished
02:52third in this last year.
02:53If you're looking at the US-based horses, Farbridge would probably be one of the best
02:58chances for the US runners.
03:00He's just gotten really, really good this year.
03:02And he has tactical speed, which is nice and kind of put himself pretty close in the race
03:06if he has to.
03:07So that one fits pretty well as you take a look at some of the top contenders for the
03:12Breeders' Cup turf.
03:13Now let's flip to the main event.
03:15The Classic is going to go as race number eight and they made it like right in the middle
03:20of the wagering menu.
03:21So it'll be the end of a lot of the early big exotic wagers.
03:24It'll start some of the late exotic wagers.
03:26This is the one race you really want to be right about next week on Saturday.
03:30European horse who's very highly regarded is City of Troy.
03:34You have some nice Japanese runners like Forever Young, who we all saw in the Kentucky Derby.
03:40This is a strong group lining up for the Breeders' Cup Classic, Alexa.
03:44It really is.
03:45And just to paint the picture for y'all, I mean, this race awards $7 million.
03:51I mean, when we say it's the main event, it is the main event.
03:54And you know, of the 16 potential runners, there are only four who've already earned
03:58less than a million.
03:59None of them have earned less than $700,000.
04:01We have two horses in here who've won $12 and $16 million.
04:04So I mean, these are the most accomplished of the accomplished.
04:09Fierceness is likely going to be favorite or second favorite in here.
04:13He's been a factor in pretty much every major race this year, won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile
04:18last year, and was the two-year-old champion.
04:21If he wins the Classic, he'll be the only horse to ever win both the Juvenile and the
04:25Classic.
04:26He's just so talented.
04:28Sierra Leone also going to be in here, who's undeniably one of the best horses in the country.
04:33He lost the Derby by a nose and has never been off the board.
04:37He has a powerful acceleration and turn of foot.
04:41He's given 10 to 1 odds likely, which is longer than we've ever seen, and he's been the favorite
04:47in almost every career start so far.
04:49Because it's such a competitive race, we get long odds on really good horses.
