00:00In the aftermath of Hurricane Christine last night, 566,000 houses serviced by Meralco lost power due to strong winds and rain.
00:14Many trees fell and collided with the Meralco posts.
00:19As of now, there are 360,000 Meralco customers who still have no power.
00:24They continue to investigate and repair the affected facilities.
00:28The area that was really severely hit by Christine is in the south.
00:35Before this day ends, we are committing that the majority of these 360,000 customers will be able to return to their services.
00:49According to Meralco, they will not be able to return the supply of electricity to areas that are still flooded.
00:55Meralco will wait for the water to subside to ensure that everyone is safe.
01:02Accompanied by the Meralco posts are the areas of Bacoo, Noveleta, and Cavite City in Cavite, and Binan and Santa Cruz in Laguna.
01:11Meralco's advice to the affected houses is
01:14Make sure the main electrical power switch is off.
01:17Unplug your appliances.
01:21Turn off permanently connected equipment.
01:24Unscrew the light bulbs if possible.
01:27Use rubber gloves and rubber boots when removing the plug from the service equipment or main circuit breaker fuse.
01:39It is also better to have the appliances submerged in water checked by a licensed electrician.
01:46Do not turn it on immediately, especially flood-damaged electrical facilities and internal wiring.
01:52Make sure all electrical wires are dry.
01:55There are also transmission lines of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines
01:59that were partially energized earlier this afternoon due to the typhoon.
02:06Including the lines that supply Pangasinan, Batangas, and part of Cabarinasur.
02:11The NGCP assured that they are repairing the damaged lines.
