Cascade of more than 2,000 poppies launches Wellingborough Poppy Appeal
Transcript
00:00It's beautiful and I think it's going to draw attention, especially to the town centre,
00:08where we need that footfall and people then realise that Popup L is starting and we've
00:17always done very well in Wallingborough. We've had really good support and year after year
00:24we've increased the donations and I'm just so proud of the people here. So last year
00:32we raised over £42,000 which is, you know, for a town this size it's really, really good.
00:38Yeah, we're always looking for volunteers. There's lots of things to be doing. During
00:44the Popup L itself we have manned stalls in the supermarkets and we also have town centre
00:52collectors. A lot of that is done by the cadets but we're happy for adults to come along. The
00:58Popup L, to me, is something that I've inherited. My mother, auntie, grandmother, all were part of
01:10the Women's Royal British Legion and helped with the Popup L and I just really needed to help when
01:19things were not so good here in Wallingborough and I just didn't want the Popup L not to go
01:25ahead. So it was one of those things that I felt I had to do.
