The 911 GT3 has offered the ultimate combination of racing genes and day-to-day usability since its introduction in 1999. To mark its 25th anniversary, the new model will launch simultaneously in two versions for the first time: as a track-focused sports car with a rear wing and as a more understated version with a Touring package. With tailor-made packages and innovative options, the GT3 variants can be further customised to the customer's taste and intended use.

00:30Hello and welcome to the world premiere of the new 911 GT3.
00:59Here you will find all the vehicles that we exhibit from time to time in the museum.
01:04And we are surrounded by so much history.
01:07The GT3 turned 25 this year.
01:10This car was presented in 1999 at the Geneva Motor Show.
01:14A legend was born.
01:17The race-ready driving machine in the 911 portfolio.
01:20Walter Röhr did a lap on the Nordschleife in it in 8 minutes, even slightly under.
01:26The car is a race-capable driving machine with road approval.
01:30This was actually the birth of the GT3.
01:33The second generation 996.
01:35This car has even more differentiation from the Carrera.
01:39Interior revamped accordingly, lighter seats, an engine that delivers 21 hp more and can
01:44rev up to 8200 rpm instead of 7600.
01:48With the 997 model that we see here, the GT3 became a permanent fixture in the 911 model
01:54range.
01:55415 hp, in this case 8400 rpm.
02:00And it was increased again in the second generation car we see here, 3.8 liters, 8500 rpm.
02:08Racing technology wherever you looked.
02:10Its own brakes and a lift system for the customer was possible for the first time.
02:15This made it possible to lower the car and refine the aerodynamics even further.
02:19Getting even faster required the use of technology.
02:24The 991 platform gave us every opportunity here.
02:27This car was developed with a completely new 3.8 liter direct injection engine.
02:32A completely new engine, 9000 rpm, 475 hp, coupled to an ultra-fast shifting PDK gearbox.
02:41The sport version was specially tuned for the GT3.
02:45With the 991 second generation that we see here, the manual gearbox was back.
02:49There was also a touring version for the first time.
02:52That is, a GT3 version without a rear wing for the driver.
02:58This brings us to the current 992 generation.
03:01The GT3 in the 992 version once again offers a quantum leap in technology.
03:07Double wishbone front axle, aerodynamics borrowed directly from the racing car, easily recognizable
03:13by the swan neck suspension, an even lighter chassis.
03:18This car, also available in a touring variant, was the most successful 911 GT3 to date.
03:27So much for history, but now we're looking forward to what lies ahead.
03:31It was not easy for us to make an almost perfect car even better.
03:35That is why we have had an extensive dialogue with our customers.
03:39And the result is here, the new 911 GT3.
03:48The heart of the GT3, it is still as it should be.
04:12A high-revving, naturally aspirated engine, 4 liters, 9,000 rpm, 510 horsepower.
04:19This time, however, coupled to a gearbox with 8% shorter gear ratios, similar to a 911 ST
04:25special model.
04:268% shorter gear ratios means more traction in every situation.
04:32But that's not all.
04:33The entire car is a little tighter in terms of styling than its predecessor.
04:37With aerodynamic revisions, particularly non-visible ones in terms of the gearbox and
04:42driveshaft cooling, but also in terms of brake cooling.
04:47We see the car here with an option package, the Weissach package, familiar from the RS
04:52models.
04:53For the first time now also available in the normal 911 GT3.
04:59Many carbon elements.
05:00It starts with the air blades in the front.
05:05It continues to the mirrors, the side blades of the rear wing, and finally the interior.
05:11Magnesium wheels.
05:12These wheels alone are 9 kilograms lighter than the original alloy wheels.
05:17So, now we know what it looks like and what it's got inside.
05:21But most importantly, how does it feel?
05:29The sound, the driving pleasure, amazing.
05:34It's unbelievable how the car works, ultra-precise.
05:37The 8% shorter gear ratio is definitely great on tight and winding sections.
05:42This makes it even better in the perfect engine speed range.
05:46Especially in terms of the shock platform.
05:50Here in the curves too.
05:51The car absorbs waves really perfectly.
05:57Another huge step forward, especially with the brakes.
06:00You can hardly notice any pitching movements.
06:02This is big-time stuff here.
06:05Jörg is in his element in the car.
06:09This may be due in part to the fact that he finds a similar working atmosphere here to
06:13that in his racing cars.
06:15We have a new full bucket seat.
06:17And it has some advantages and gimmicks, which I'll show you quickly.
06:21As soon as I'm on the track, as Jörg is at the moment, I wear a helmet.
06:25For safety and for regulatory reasons.
06:28In order to improve ergonomics and simply create more freedom of movement for the head,
06:33the headrest can be disengaged up here.
06:36Which frees up additional space to ensure a more upright head position with a helmet.
06:41The seat is also foldable.
06:45By pulling a loop here, the backrest can be unlocked, folded forward, and the loading
06:50situation for the driver is much improved.
06:53Clear advantage over a fixed shell.
06:57Otherwise what we see in the interior is the elements of the Weissach package.
07:02Race tags on the dashboard.
07:04We have a carbon interior door handle.
07:08We have a lightweight door panel with a luggage net here.
07:12What a car.
07:14But that's not all.
07:16For the first time in the 25-year history of the 911 GT3, we are presenting two variants
07:22of the GT3 at the same time.
07:25Let's set the stopwatch aside.
07:27Let's turn to winding country roads.
07:31Let's turn to the customers who like to drive on Sundays just for fun.
07:36And for them, the GT3 with Touring Package is just the thing.
07:55And here the new 911 GT3 with Touring Package.
08:08The athlete in pinstripes, so to speak.
08:11Slightly more discreet than its winged sibling.
08:14It's still just as track-worthy, but this is more of a driver's car.
08:18510 horsepower, 9,000 rpm on the engine side.
08:22In this case, Touring is standard with 6-speed manual gearbox.
08:25And optionally also with a PDK gearbox.
08:29We interviewed a number of customers and there was always one topic that came up in particular.
08:35Please give us a four-seater with the Touring.
08:38We have a rear seat system that can be selected as an option.
08:42Those who want the car even more sporty, even more purist, can choose the Leichtbau Package.
08:47It is very similar to the Weissach Package, including magnesium wheels that significantly
08:52reduce weight, but also includes other features around the car.
08:55We use leather, partially embossed leather on the dashboard, and we use textile inlays
09:01as seat center surfaces.
09:05The new 911 GT3 with Touring Package.
09:08For me, it's the perfect new 911 for country roads.
09:12And not just for me, I think Walter Röhrl feels the same way.
09:19My job in principle is always to check the performance of the car.
09:24I have to drive fast and make sure that the car is still reasonably easy for the customer
09:30to control at the limit.
09:33That's what matters to me.
09:35The new steering is just as direct as the old one, but less nervous coming out of the
09:39zero position.
09:43It's very important that the seat holds my body, so that my hands are free just for steering.
09:54Transplanting these genes from a racing car into a production car, just as you would expect
09:59from Porsche.
10:01Despite all the regulations that exist, we still have a very compelling sound that just
10:07gives me this motivation, that feeling that I am sitting in a racing car, and that just
10:13gives me a thrill when I see the tachometer, hear the sound, and that reminds me of my
10:18active racing days.
10:24Driving a sports car, and on the other hand, a completely normal everyday car.
10:29Only Porsche masters this balance, and you can really feel it again with the Touring.
10:41Dear sports car enthusiasts, it's a special moment for me too.
10:44The simultaneous world premiere of two GT3 models.
10:50One more for the track, the other more for the road.
10:53Both offer an exceptional, unique, and quintessential GT3 driving experience.
11:01Both are even more emotional, even more individual, and exactly aligned with the wishes of our
11:05customers.
11:06For more information, please visit Porsche.com or the Porsche newsroom.
11:12I thank you for your attention and bid you farewell.
11:15Many thanks and goodbye.
