00:00Ladies and gentlemen, I want you to give a warm welcome to our friend, Mr. Bob Diller.
00:05Bob Diller has written some of the most iconic songs of the last century.
00:10Bob and his music reigns over culture.
00:12I'm so infatuated with lyrics and songwriting and that was Bob's genius.
00:17Every music moment is super grounded and has a purpose and it's story-driven, it's character-driven.
00:21It was clear that we needed to do everything live.
00:23I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.
00:27It was important for me to sing and play on set because it was in the spirit of the movie to do it live.
00:32He learns the entire thing, top to bottom, that's harmonica and guitar and vocal is pretty special.
00:39Woody wants to hear something. Do you shine?
00:42Not usually.
00:43Come gather round people wherever you roam.
00:48He was writing music that was more blunt about things that were going on.
00:53Bob wouldn't let himself be boxed in, which for me as a young artist is the most inspiring.
00:58For the times they are a-changing.
01:03His genius and the power of his songs and personality
01:06ends up elevating him until he's bigger than the movement he was taken into.
01:14Many of the artists through American pop culture that had the
01:17balls to turn their back on what was expected of them, that moment started with Bob.
01:23Once upon a time, you're just so fine.
01:26In your bones, a dime in your prime.
01:30Didn't you?
01:31Bob has really resisted categorization. He has resisted being put in a box.
01:36I'm not sure they want to hear what I want to play, Jenny.
01:38Make some noise, B.D. Track some mud on the carpet.
01:41Oh, how does it feel?
01:43Words are relevant. Times they are a-changing is relevant.
01:46Blowing the wind is relevant. There's music still all over the radio.
01:48He changed folk music forever and music forever.
01:51Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone.
