A British holidaymaker flew to Dubai for £64 - less than the cost of filling up a car with fuel.

Callum Ryan, 22, got a Wizz Air flight from Luton to Sofia in Bulgaria for £21.99, before flying to Abu Dhabi with the same airline for £35.16.

A bus from the airport to Dubai set him back £7.51, making his total travel spend one way £64.66.

In comparison, the average cost of filling up a 55 litre Ford Focus with petrol sits at £79.13, according to the most recent figures on racfoundation.org

But Callum says filling up his car costs £120.

The social media content creator took the trip to see a friend and catch some sunshine - and as part of a series of budget holiday challenges.

00:00Dreaming of Dubai, but worried about the cost. Did you know it's possible to visit on the cheap?
00:04British holidaymaker Callum Ryan set himself the challenge of heading to Dubai for less than the
00:09cost of filling up a car with fuel. Think it's doable? Let's find out. I set myself the challenge
00:13to fly all the way to Dubai for cheaper than the price of a tank of fuel. And well, this is how it
00:17went. The plan was to spend less than the price of an average tank of fuel in the UK, which comes to
00:21around £70. With that in mind, I booked a last minute flight from London to Bulgaria for only £21.99.
00:26So a couple of weeks later, I hopped on my flight and landed in Safiya. And as random as it sounds,
00:30this was all part of the plan. As when I booked this flight, I also booked another flight for the
00:33next day from Safiya to Abu Dhabi. This flight, however, was a little bit more expensive, but I'll
00:37be sure to let you know how much at the end of the video. So far, so good. I've now hopped on
00:41my second flight and landed in Abu Dhabi. What a crazy experience so far. Then it was time for the
00:45last leg of the journey, which included getting a coach from Abu Dhabi straight into the centre of
00:48Dubai. The coach only took an hour and a half and cost me £7.51. But now it's time for the
00:52important part. The second flight cost me a grand total of £35.16, which means when added
00:57all together, we did it! Colm kept the budget-friendly travel going as his four-night
01:01stay worked out at £21.75 per night, splitting the cost with his PAL and his return journey
01:07totaled just £72.85. Pretty cheap for such a lavish destination. Would you give it a try?
