00:00Elon Musk, South Africa-born fourth-certified world-richest man, who is a citizen of United
00:07States, U.S. by registration is no doubt one of the major centers of discussion in the
00:13forthcoming USA presidential election which during the weekend, he reiterated his pledge
00:18of daily giveaway of $1 million to randomly selected voters who sign a petition to support
00:24the constitution launched by his pro-Donald Trump America Political Action Committee
00:29PAC.
00:30The 53-year-old native of Pretoria in South Africa who relocated to Canada in the North
00:36America continent in 1988 before becoming USA citizen in 2002, said and reiterated on
00:44Monday in a tweet on his ex-social media platform that the forthcoming presidential election
00:49in the U.S. is the most important election in our lifetime.
00:54During the weekend at Pennsylvania, Elon Musk who obtained both Bachelor of Arts and
00:59Science degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, said he hates politics.
01:04He is not a politician, he is a technologist but he is sorry that he needed to take a stand
01:09in this year 2024 U.S. presidential election.
01:14He stated and in quote, we have an issue of apathy.
01:18Some people think their vote doesn't count and for whatever reason they have not registered
01:23to vote.
01:24It's important to get out there and explain the importance of this election and how democracy
01:30is on the line.
01:32This is the most important election in your lifetime.
01:36If there's any election where you ever vote, it should be this one.
01:40I hate politics.
01:42I don't want to be in politics.
01:44I am a technologist.
01:46I build rockets and cars.
01:48I derive joy from seeing people enjoy the products that my companies make.
01:54But the stakes are so high that I had no choice but to take a stand.
01:59Elon Musk had in an interview with Jordan Peterson in July 2024, said America needs
02:05a strong leader, referring to Donald Trump.
02:09America needs a strong leader when you have the perception of strength.
02:14You have to admire that Trump, after getting shot, with blood streaming down his face,
02:20it could have been a second shooter, who knows, nonetheless, with fist pumping, fight, fight,
02:28after being shot, I mean, he's brave, he has courage.
02:34This is instinctual courage.
02:36It's not calculated.
02:37It's not some arranged event.
02:40You see true courage in the moment, and you want a leader who's going to deal with some
02:45very, very tough cookies out there, who's going to deal with a Putin or Kim Jong-un
02:51or China.
02:52They will think twice about messing with Trump.
02:55They'll think twice.
02:57I think they will be intimidated by a guy who was fist pumping after getting shot.
03:02Meanwhile, Elon Musk came under scrutiny after he had pledged to award $1 million every day
03:08until Election Day in the United States on November 5th to randomly selected registered
03:14voters who signed a petition to support the constitution launched by his pro-Donald Trump
03:19America Political Action Committee, PAC.
03:23Musk announced the giveaway on Saturday at an America PAC-hosted rally in Harrisburg,
03:28Pennsylvania.
03:29Many are seeing monetary action of Elon Musk during the election processes as a calculated
03:35attempt to use monetary influence to win voters' support for Donald Trump just as legal experts
03:40are scrutinizing the scheme as well as Pennsylvania's Democratic Governor, Josh Shapiro, who on
03:46Sunday asked law enforcement agents to launch an investigation into potential election interference
03:52with Elon Musk's daily giveaway program.
03:55Tesla CEO and ex-owner Elon Musk, who supports Donald Trump, appears on stage during an America
04:03PAC town hall in Folsom, Pennsylvania, on October 17, 2024 explaining his stand in this
04:10year's U.S. election, reiterating that from October 17 to November 5, he will give $1
04:16million to a randomly selected winner each day if he or she is a registered voter.
04:22He or she is from one of the following swing states, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona,
04:30Michigan, Wisconsin, or North Carolina.
04:34He or she has signed an online petition created by America PAC.
04:39Musk is the founder and the CEO of the electric car company Tesla and rocket producer SpaceX
04:45and owns the social media network X.
04:48He has a net worth of $274.4 billion, according to Forbes' real-time billionaires listing.
04:57According to Al Jazeera, Musk has repeatedly called the petition one that upholds the U.S.
05:03Constitution.
05:04More precisely, the petition on a webpage belonging to the America PAC website says,
05:11the First and Second Amendments guarantee freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.
05:17By signing below, I am pledging my support for the First and Second Amendments.
05:23The webpage states, earn 1 million inches in big, bold letters, flanked by two moneybag
05:29emojis.
05:30Individuals who sign are supposed to enter their first name, last name, email address
05:37and cell phone number.
05:39Next to the cell phone number filled in the form, a note says the number is required only
05:44to confirm that the petition signing is a legitimate voter and no other purpose.
05:51Our goal is to get one million registered voters in swing states to sign in support
05:55of the Constitution, the website added.
05:59On Friday, the day before the giveaway announcement, the Reuters News Agency reported that Alizea
06:05McMillan, who canvassed for America PAC in Wisconsin, said field organizers had reported
06:11they were missing their daily goals in terms of enlisting voters and were expecting to
06:16fall short of their ultimate goal of contacting 450,000 voters by Election Day.
06:23In Pennsylvania, each registered voter who signs the petition will automatically receive
06:28$100 as compensation, and an additional $100 is paid for each person who signs upon their
06:36referral.
06:37In other swing states, individuals will get $47 per successful referral.
06:43The day the petition was created and the number of signatures amassed so far were
06:48not visible on the America PAC webpage.
06:52PACs raise and spend money to advocate for or against a candidate in an election.
06:58Musk formed America PAC in May to support former President Trump's election bid this
07:02year.
07:04On October 16, it was reported that Musk had poured $75 million over three months into
07:11America PAC, Al Jazeera stated.
07:14For years, according to close watchers, Elon Musk has always voted for Democratic Party
07:20candidates in previously held U.S. elections.
