Justice League Creature Commandos Trailer & Superman 2025 Crossover
Transcript
00:00General Flagg, you found yourself in the middle of an international incident.
00:05A princess?
00:12The United States is in the business of saving the damn world, by any means necessary.
00:18What in the holy hell?
00:21Congress said we can't use human prisoners.
00:27These assholes aren't human.
00:31Do you understand me now?
00:33Who is she?
00:34We call her The Bride.
00:36I was born here.
00:40Who's Jason and the Argonauts?
00:41That's Dr. Phosphorus.
00:43Why are you doing this?
00:45It's business.
00:48What is that thing?
00:49The Weasel.
00:50We know it has what it takes to survive.
00:53That's Nina Mazursky.
00:55Daddy?
01:00Last one is G.I. Robot.
01:05Cheers to the Tinder!
01:12I know you all aren't exactly enthusiastic about this mission.
01:16I didn't realize I had a choice.
01:19You said you wanted me to be a hero.
01:21Not like that.
01:25Until we find out the truth of what's going on here.
01:27We're supposed to be on the same damn team.
01:30G.I.!
01:31Friend Nina!
01:36Shish kebab!
01:43You're always so hyperbolically violent.
01:45You need therapy.
01:56You wanted monsters.
01:58You goat monster.
02:06Die, Nazi!
02:08He's not a Nazi, G.I.
02:10Oh, okay.
02:18Welcome back everyone, it's Charlie.
02:19This will be my Creature Commandos trailer.
02:21James Gunn just released it in New York Comic Con.
02:24It's going to be the first big series as part of his DCU Chapter 1 Gods and Monsters.
02:29As you can see, lots of actual monsters showing up during this.
02:33That will also show up in the live-action movies too.
02:35Particularly the new Superman movie.
02:38I'll explain which characters we already know about are showing up in that live-action Superman movie.
02:43And other live-action movies that they'll be doing the next couple years.
02:46Cersei is probably the connection to the gods part of the Gods and Monsters title.
02:50She's not an actual god, but most people remember her from the Wonder Woman comics.
02:53She's a big Wonder Woman villain.
02:55She's an immortal witch.
02:57So really more of a magic-based character.
02:59As you can see, it goes super hard.
03:01It's meant to be TVMA.
03:03It's going to be happening later this year.
03:04I'll do episode videos when it starts.
03:06If you're brand new to the channel, be sure to subscribe to get all those episodes.
03:10The way that James Gunn described it, he said it's a little bit like Guardians of the Galaxy,
03:13but with the sentimentality toned down.
03:16Like the cast of misfits that come together and become a family.
03:19He said the characters aren't morally perfect.
03:21The stories aren't meant to be perfect.
03:23Like their backstories aren't meant to be perfect.
03:25There'll be a lot of characters dying during the series.
03:27Sometimes for very tragic circumstances.
03:29It's meant to be a very dark story in many ways.
03:31But he says he hopes in an equally invigorating one,
03:34setting up that brand new Superman movie and Peacemaker season 2 and a couple other things.
03:40Those are just like the next big things that we know this is directly connected to
03:43because some of these characters will show up in live-action really soon right after this.
03:48And as you could tell, a lot of the voices sound familiar.
03:50We've already actually seen them in some of the live-action DCU movie footage
03:54and Peacemaker season 2 footage.
03:56The other easy comp to make with them is to like a monster version of the Suicide Squad
04:01because they literally call them Task Force M instead of Task Force X.
04:05During the trailer, we see Amanda Waller and Rick Flagg Sr.
04:08literally going to like a different part of Belrev where they're just cording off to.
04:12The whole basis for them coming together during the series
04:15is the fact that Amanda Waller says because of what happened during Peacemaker season 1
04:19in the previous Suicide Squad movie, she's not allowed to use humans to deal with this problem anymore
04:26because Congress thought that she was violating too many rights.
04:29Part of the idea that of all Suicide Squad adjacent stories,
04:32Amanda Waller typically winds up being an even bigger villain
04:35than whichever villain they're put together to actually stop.
04:38So kind of expecting the same idea during the course of this.
04:41Like the team comes together, they're a bunch of dirtbags,
04:44they stop Cersei from doing whatever it is she's trying to doing here.
04:47It seems like it's very magic-based plot, but Amanda Waller becomes an even bigger antagonist while that's happening.
04:52There are meant to be 7 episodes total. I don't know why there's not an even 8.
04:56We'll find out, I guess.
04:58Rick Flagg Sr. is being played by Frank Grillo. You probably recognize his voice.
05:02He's one of the major crossover characters too
05:04because he's also appearing in that live-action new David Cornsweat Superman movie.
05:09This is footage of him literally arresting Superman.
05:12I mean, Superman's allowing himself to be arrested. You don't arrest Superman.
05:15Little bit of Henry Cavill's Superman energy from the Man of Steel movie
05:18where he turned himself in and allowed himself to be put in cuffs.
05:22But in this new scene from the Superman movie,
05:24you can see the engineer from the Authority comics with Rick Flagg live-action
05:28in what looks like the evil clone of Superman in the suit with the U on it
05:32that everyone's just calling Ultraman because of the U.
05:35And for whatever reason, Superman has allowed himself to be captured by them.
05:39There's been a lot of talk about what's going on with this Ultraman evil version of Superman,
05:43who looks like an evil clone of Superman.
05:45Lex Luthor is meant to create him during the movie
05:47and it looks like his suit draws inspiration from a bunch of comic book sources
05:51like comic book doomsday's goggles in the suit that he starts out in before he eventually breaks out.
05:56And in the context of the movie, his backstory plays out a little bit more
06:00like the original version of Bizarro Superman
06:02who started out originally as a clone of Superman created by Lex Luthor.
06:07They kind of been doing a similar twist with Bizarro in the new Superman and Lois live-action TV series
06:12where he becomes the version of Doomsday over time created by Lex Luthor.
06:17But the idea in the new Superman movie is that David Cornswood's regular Superman
06:21will have to stop this evil Superman clone that just completely goes off the rails it sounds like.
06:25They actually did an animated Superman movie that dealt with some of this plot
06:28due with Lex Luthor creating a whole bunch of Superman clones that go dark.
06:32You recognize Amanda Waller, that's Viola Davis, coming back to play her again
06:35from the Suicide Squad movie and Peacemaker season 1.
06:38Steven Agee is also coming back as his John Economos during this from Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.
06:43A lot of Peacemaker crossover because some of this will set up Peacemaker season 2.
06:47For instance, Frank Grillo's Rick Flagg Sr. I believe is meant to show up during Peacemaker season 2
06:53coming for Peacemaker because he wants revenge for him killing his son Rick Flagg Jr.
06:58during the events of the Suicide Squad movie.
07:00So some of the DCU stuff will continue to be canon inside James Gunn's DCU.
07:06The way that James Gunn clarified that, he said there's a hard and fast rule.
07:09He said that at some points during the new series and the upcoming live-action movies
07:13they'll reference things that happened during DCU movies.
07:17So when that happens, that will canonize certain things from the DCEU to the DCU.
07:22He didn't really get too far into specifics, but like you have Amanda Waller coming back as her version of the character.
07:27For instance, some of the Peacemaker characters coming back for Peacemaker season 2.
07:31Some of the other Suicide Squad characters.
07:33Like already you can kind of see that some of that stuff will continue to be canon.
07:36Indira Varma, who you probably recognize from a billion different things, is the bride of Frankenstein.
07:41Her backstory in the DCU is somewhat similar to her backstory from the classic movies in the books with the DC spin on it.
07:47David Harbour, Red Guardian from the MCU, is playing Frankenstein's monster.
07:52No idea when the two of them will show up in live-action.
07:55David Harbour was talking about it too, like he hopes that he shows up in the live-action DCU movies at some point.
08:00It'd be one of those situations where he's under a ton of makeup, so like you don't see him as David Harbour,
08:05like you see Red Guardian and you instantly recognize David Harbour.
08:09Alan Tudyk, that shows up during all of James Gunn's stuff all over the place, not just the MCU stuff,
08:14but also his other movies too, is playing Dr. Phosphorus, who's a Batman villain.
08:19Alan Tudyk will also be coming back in live-action during the David Corns with Superman movie,
08:24but they didn't say if he's going to be coming back in that as Dr. Phosphorus in live-action
08:28or if he'll be a completely different character, just because he plays so many different characters across all James Gunn's movies.
08:34As you can see, his powers are pretty self-explanatory.
08:37He has radioactive powers after being exposed or betrayed by Rupert Thorne,
08:41another big Batman villain who's part of this series.
08:44His body chemistry was fundamentally altered to have phosphorus skin that would burn permanently in eternal flame.
08:51After his accident, he's bent on revenge against Thorne for what happened to him,
08:55so that's where he becomes a villain and gets locked up in Belrev.
08:58Originally, he was a normal scientist that wanted to build a nuclear power plant in the old classic Batman comics.
09:04They'll probably change that a little bit for this backstory here, like it's a little bit more modern,
09:08but it sounds like at some point during this series he's betrayed by Rupert Thorne that tries to kill him using his own technology,
09:13and that's how he gets his powers.
09:15Anya Chalatra, who plays Yennefer on the Witcher Netflix series, is playing Cersei, Wonder Woman villain.
09:21Everybody remembers Cersei somewhere from the comics or the animated movies.
09:25She's supposed to be the actual main villain of this show, if you're not considering Amanda Waller the main villain.
09:31Not totally clear what she's actually doing during the series that's so dangerous,
09:34probably some magic-based plot, but it has something to do with Alanna Rostovic here,
09:38who's being played by Maria Bacalova, who you probably remember is Cosmo the space dog from the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 movie.
09:46James Gunn also said that Maria Bacalova was the first character that he ever cast in the DCU canonically,
09:52like way before David Korn was cast as Superman or any of those live-action Superman characters.
09:57Sean Gunn, who plays Kraglin in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, is doing G.I. Robot.
10:02He was a sentient robot created back during World War II by Dr. Mazursky, the father of Nina Mazursky here,
10:09or the creator of Nina Mazursky here, who's another team member.
10:12He was a sentient robot they just refer to as an automaton.
10:15His real name is the acronym Jake One.
10:18That's why they have all the funny scenes in the trailers with him yelling about killing Nazis,
10:22because he's literally from World War II, where they killed a bunch of Nazis.
10:27Another big live-action Superman movie connection too to David Korn's version,
10:31but he's actually coming back in that movie as the live-action version of Maxwell Lord.
10:36It seems like he's actually funding his own team of superheroes featuring Mr. Terrific,
10:40Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner, Green Lantern, and Hawker,
10:43because all their suits look the same, and they have Lord Tech Company symbols on his logo.
10:48The early theory is that they're meant to be a reference to the Justice League International team
10:53that Maxwell Lord ran in the comics, and Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord will be more like that classic comic book version.
11:00Nina Mazursky is exactly what you think. She's also referred to as a mermaid in the DCU.
11:05She underwent a transformation just allowing her to be more amphibious and walk around on land.
11:09On the series, they're making her look a little bit more like Abe Sapien with the helmet that just allows her to breathe on land.
11:16And as you can see, Weasel is also back. Sean Gunn played him during the Suicide Squad movie,
11:20and he kind of ran off into the distance like he survived the end of the Suicide Squad movie.
11:24Maybe he's doing double duty again during the series and also playing him,
11:28but he mostly makes noises like Weasel doesn't talk like a person.
11:32I also love the theory here based on this trailer footage that Weasel was framed for killing those little kids,
11:37and he actually tried to save them from this animal here.
11:40There's a bunch of other characters that you probably spotted throughout the trailer,
11:43like Clayface from the Batman comics also here too.
11:46So Clayface is going to show up in live action in the DCU eventually.
11:50There are a bunch of other familiar faces from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies,
11:53other Marvel movies in general, people that James Gunn tends to work with on the regular,
11:57like a lot of his friends from other movies.
12:00Linda Cardellini, who plays Hawkeye's wife in Mockingbird in the MCU, is playing a mystery character.
12:05We don't know who. Michael Rooker is also back from the Suicide Squad movie,
12:09and he was also in all the Guardians of the Galaxy movies as Yondu.
12:12Supposedly he's not playing the same character he played during the Suicide Squad movie.
12:17Peter Serafinowicz is also playing a mystery character in the MCU.
12:21You probably remember him from the Nova Corps in Guardians of the Galaxy.
12:24James Gunn also said there be a bunch of other really big surprise characters
12:29and things that they're trying to keep secret during this.
12:32Maybe some bigger A-list Justice League level characters to help tie it more to the upcoming live action movies.
12:38As you can see from the trailer, episodes start December 5th.
12:41I believe it's meant to be one per week. I don't know if they're starting with multiple episodes on the first day.
12:45We'll find out.
12:46There's a bunch of stuff going on here, so if there's any other Easter eggs that you spotted during the trailer
12:50that I didn't talk about during the video, write them below in the comments.
12:53James Gunn also said they would be releasing the first Superman trailer pretty soon,
12:57like not right away, but pretty soon.
13:00Whatever they wind up releasing, of course I will do all the videos for it. Don't worry.
13:04We're also in the middle of all those Penguin Batman episodes.
13:08I'll post links for those down the description below.
13:10It's been fire so far.
13:12And really big reminder, Venom The Last Dance is coming out this week.
