00:00Three, two, one.
00:05Thanks, thank you very much.
00:07Have a great day.
00:09Public Bank's Run for Change 2024 returned bigger and better,
00:13offering participants more than just a run.
00:16The event brought together enthusiastic runners
00:19and community members of all ages to Padang Kota Lama in Georgetown,
00:23transforming the day into a joyful celebration of togetherness.
00:28Over 2,300 participants, including public bank employees,
00:33customers, friends, families and business associates,
00:37laced up their running shoes for a worthy cause.
00:41Weekends are consistently run by myself,
00:43so I will actually lead them and invite them to join me as well.
00:46But they are more excited to join in this kind of public event.
00:48Three, two, one.
00:50Because we can meet with all the staff here.
00:55Because we don't have time to meet the staff,
00:57this kind of event, we can meet with the other branch staff.
01:04It's a very good chance for us, for our colleagues,
01:07to gather and join some other activities.
01:10Because every day we just meet in the office.
01:12This is the first time, I'm so excited.
01:16Because of course I know all my colleagues will be here.
01:19In fact, my other branch's colleagues also, the staff also will be here.
01:25So we can meet together, we can run together.
01:28That makes me excited.
01:29We look forward to the Public Bank to organise this event,
01:34if possible, every year.
01:40Public Bank Managing Director and CEO Tan Sri Datuk Sri Dr Tay Ah Lek
01:45and the senior management team were present at the run
01:49to foster deeper connections with the extended public bank family
01:52in the northern region.
01:55He said the Run for Change 2024 Penang edition
01:59has been an inspiring experience for them.
02:01Dr Tay also said the opportunity to give back
02:04made the event even more meaningful,
02:06with a portion of the participation fees being donated
02:09to four homes in Penang.
02:11This aligned with the bank's commitment to make a positive impact
02:16beyond the race itself.
02:18From young children to seasoned runners,
02:20everyone embraced the fun and excitement
02:23of the five-kilometre run and ten-kilometre competitive race.
02:27The race concluded with a prize-giving ceremony
02:30and mock check presentations to the four beneficiaries.
02:33I'm so proud. I feel good, I feel proud
02:36because every run I run for my kids.
02:40I have three boys, Malaysian boys, and I love them.
02:44Everything I do in running, I give my best for them.
02:48Because I was a full-time engineer,
02:51I also have two kids.
02:53So how I occupy my time is,
02:55in the weekend, at least one time is for me
02:58to run a long distance, about 20 km.
03:01And then in the weekday,
03:02I will just do about two to three times in the gym.
03:06That's the only time that I have.
03:07I think it's a very good event
03:10that creates a lot of awareness to the community
03:12about health, and then we also, you know,
03:15can support those with disabilities.
03:19And it's a good event for everybody
03:23to come along as a family, as individuals.
03:2639,000 ringgit!
03:28A total of 39,000 ringgit was donated
03:31to support four charitable homes across Penang
03:34in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali celebration.
03:38Among the participants were residents
03:40from homes for the disabled,
03:42including Agape Home, Shama Children's Home,
03:45and Shan Children's Home.
03:47Blind runners from St. Nicholas Home
03:49also took part in the run,
03:51further highlighting the event's inclusive spirit.
03:55For me, I like to participate in events like this
04:04because for me, this is a form of satisfaction,
04:07fun, and I can open my mind.
04:17I haven't seen it in almost two years,
04:20so I think this is a good exercise for me
04:24that is encouraged by the public bank.
04:30The event also saw families and friends
04:33gather to celebrate health, fitness,
04:35and community spirit.
04:37It's also a catalyst for promoting
04:39an understanding of the significance
04:41of healthy living choices among its participants,
04:44symbolizing the perfect synergy
04:46between fitness and philanthropy
04:48to create a meaningful and lasting impact.
