00:00These posts have been quite interesting and one of them has come from the candidate that's
00:06running in the Southport seat on the Gold Coast, David Vaughan.
00:10He's made several Facebook posts dating all the way back to May that have had language
00:14and terminology that's been associated with the QAnon movement.
00:18Now that movement and its followers broadly believe that a satanic faction has been controlling
00:23the government, businesses as well as the media.
00:26Mr Vaughan alongside Callum Whatmore, who's another One Nation candidate that's running
00:31in the seat of Waterford in Logan, have also been making several social media posts regarding
00:36weather manipulation theories.
00:38Now one of those theories also had the suggestion that Hurricane Helene, which recently hit
00:42the U.S. state of North Carolina back in September, was due to human interference.
00:48The pair have declined to comment to the ABC and they've also not directly answered questions
00:53that have been put to them regarding their social media activity, but of course it comes
00:57as another One Nation candidate, Scott Phillip, who's been running in another Gold Coast seat,
01:02the seat of Boney, has also been making several posts regarding chemtrails.
01:06Now chemtrails refers to the air vapour that's left in the sky from aircraft.
01:11It's actually correctly referred to as contrails and despite the theories is not actually dangerous
01:16to humans.
01:17Both Mr Phillip and the One Nation party have declined to comment to the ABC and since inquiries
01:22have been made, several of those posts have been taken down and the ability for users
01:27to be able to comment on those posts has also been blocked, but it is certainly talking
01:31to the nature of this election as it continues to fire up.
01:35We've effectively got the Premier Stephen Miles as well as the Opposition Leader who
01:38will be making their way back to Brisbane later today after spending much of their time
01:42in the far north and the regions of the state where some of those most crucial seats are
01:47being held.
01:48The Opposition Leader and the Premier are facing off in the final election debate tonight
01:53ahead of the election date this Saturday on October 26 and with less than four days to
01:57go the countdown is well and truly on Gemma.
