00:00God's Righteousness To be righteous is considered morally correct
00:06and just, a desirable quality for sure.
00:10Based on culture and customs, righteousness could be defined differently because people
00:15see truth as a relative idea rather than a standard set by the Creator of the world.
00:21For the world, it is a set of behavioral traits.
00:24The righteousness of God is set by His perfection of who He is.
00:29Culture is clear that God is righteous, therefore our standard of righteousness is God.
00:35O Lord, You are righteous and Your regulations are fair.
00:39Psalm 119 verse 137 If God's standard is righteousness, can we
00:45be righteous?
00:47No because we are still sinners.
00:49But the beauty of our gracious God is that while He has a standard of righteousness that
00:54only He can meet, we are made righteous through our faith in Jesus Christ.
00:59While we all fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3 verse 23, He has redeemed us through
01:06the sacrifice of Jesus.
01:08When God looks at us, He does not look at our sin or good works but looks at our faith
01:14in Jesus Christ and counts that as our righteousness.
01:19We know what His standards are, and we are given the ability through the Holy Spirit
01:24to display some righteous attributes, but when we fall short, it is not our eternal
01:29undoing.
01:31At these times, we must repent, confess our sins to our Lord, and give Him great thanks
01:36for His grace.
01:38He is not looking for perfect.
01:40He is looking for a heart inclined to Him that He can shape and mold as He makes us
01:45look more like Jesus.
01:47Let's spend time today thanking God for His righteousness.
01:50I will give to the Lord the thanks due to His righteousness, and I will sing praise
01:55to the name of the Lord, the Most High.
01:58Psalm 7 verse 17 We thank God for His righteousness because
02:03we know He will judge us accordingly, not because of our own works but because of Jesus.
02:09There is nothing we can do to earn our way to God, and our salvation is a free gift from
02:15God.
02:16Thankfully, He will not judge us according to our deeds, but rather He counts us as righteous
02:21because of our saving faith in Jesus Christ.
02:25Praise God for this beautiful truth!
02:27Father, thank You for Your righteousness.
02:30Thank You for setting the standard of what it means to be right and providing a way for
02:35us to be counted as righteous through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
02:40Your Word says in Isaiah 64 verse 6 that our works are like filthy rags, and on our
02:45own, we can't reach the standard of righteousness that You've established, so we thank You profusely
02:51that when You look at us, You see Your Son, Jesus.
02:55Thank You for making a way for us through Your abundant love.
03:00Amen.
