Popular Lollipop man Peter Griffiths has retired after 25 years at Worsthorne School and was given a guard of honour by pupils as a thank you for his years of service.

00:50I've never been married, I haven't got no children, obviously no grandchildren.
00:54They've all been like family to me and I've never had any bother with any of the children, any of the parents.
01:01It's been happy, but at 85 I think it's time to put the lollipop stick in cold storage,
01:08probably in the Townley Museum or something like that.
01:11It's seen a lot of service.
01:13I'm not bored, I have a saying that you should give up work by all means, but never retire.
01:19Because when you retire you sit with your feet up.
01:22I'm fine, I have lots of friends, especially in the village.
01:27I have family over in Rochdale and down in Norfolk.
01:31I'm on the phone regularly and everybody is so kind.
01:35I have loads of people, just a phone call away and I like to pop round to people to have a coffee.
01:40And of course I like a pint or two with my friends in the village.
