One of stars of Pulp, Nick Banks, has explained mystery of the fire extinguisher on the Sheffield band's famous breakthrough album, His 'n' Hers

00:04extinguisher ended up being used on one of the most famous albums that they did.
00:09The unusual item was drafted in to use on their breakthrough album His and
00:13Hers. It was even listed in the credits on the album but with no explanation. Now
00:19drummer Nick Banks has explained where the unexpected item turned up. He's told
00:23a fan who spotted the reference on the album sleeve and contacted him on social
00:27media and is confirmed that it was on the last track in the album. It appeared
00:32on the song David's Last Summer. Nick told the fan listen for the metallic
00:36clanging towards the end of the song. Fire extinguisher percussion. His and
00:42Hers is seen by many people as Pulp's big breakthrough album although it was
00:46actually the fourth one that they'd recorded. Released in 1994 His and Hers
00:50reached number nine in the album charts as Britpop became a high-profile musical
00:55genre. The single Babies which appeared on the CD eventually made the top 20.
