00:00So guys, as requested, we got the S24 FE versus the S23 FE.
00:05So let's go ahead and get started here.
00:07Let's start off with the price of these devices here.
00:11So an S23 FE will cost you somewhere around $500 brand new,
00:17but you can also get this in the used refurbished marketplace
00:21for around $300 to actually $250, depending
00:23on if it's locked to a carrier.
00:25A lot of people get these phones on a carrier deal,
00:28especially the FE series as well.
00:30You see a lot of these on prepaid carriers as well too.
00:33So all right, so let's go ahead and jump into it.
00:36Is it worth upgrading, spending the difference
00:38here between these two phones?
00:40So the biggest thing you will notice here with the hardware
00:43is actually the size difference.
00:45Since we have a bigger display on the S24 now,
00:48you can see it's a much bigger phone, in my opinion.
00:52It definitely feels a lot bigger to hold.
00:56So it doesn't feel.
00:57I mean, the S23 FE wasn't really compact,
01:00but this feels more like an S24 plus, pretty much.
01:04That's pretty much exactly what it feels like.
01:06They both have that sharp edges right here,
01:11but they are still somewhat comfortable.
01:13They don't curve.
01:14They don't poke the palm or anything like that.
01:16But they are kind of sharp feeling.
01:19And then also, we do have a glossy finish on here
01:23as well too.
01:24So you can pick up fingerprints, depending
01:26on how you look at it.
01:28But overall, I do really like the design.
01:30They pretty much, again, look like the standard Galaxy S24
01:34series for the most part.
01:36And yeah, they do have this kind of wobble thing,
01:39which is more apparent.
01:41And this is not a big deal for people
01:43if you don't type on the table or stuff like that.
01:45The S24 FE does a really crazy wobble now.
01:50It was there on the S23, but it wasn't as bad.
01:53But this one, it feels way more aggressive.
01:58You also have IP68 dust and water
02:00resistant on both of these phones as well too.
02:02But the biggest thing here is honestly the size difference.
02:05There's really nothing else going on here with the hardware.
02:09All right, so let's talk about these displays.
02:11That was kind of like the biggest, most noticeable thing
02:14here, besides the processor, which we will talk about.
02:17But on the S23 FE, we have a 6.4 inch dynamic AMOLED display.
02:22It's 120 Hertz HDR10+, 1,450 nits peak brightness.
02:27It has a 83.2% screen-to-body ratio.
02:30It's 1080p, 403 for the PPI.
02:33And it has Gorilla Glass 5.
02:35The S24 FE, it has a bigger 6.7 inch display,
02:39as you guys can see.
02:40Again, the same dynamic AMOLED, 120 Hertz display, HDR10+.
02:45But we have a higher max brightness
02:46at almost 2,000 nits peak brightness.
02:49It is 1,900 nits.
02:51This is also still 1080p, 385 for the PPI.
02:55And this uses Gorilla Glass Victus Plus now.
02:58So it is a much stronger glass.
03:00And for the overall screen-to-body ratio,
03:03it is a little bit better at 88%.
03:06So they still kind of have a little bit of bevels.
03:09But you can kind of see it at the top here.
03:12It's not as thick.
03:14And then also at the bottom here, it's not as bad either.
03:19You can see the S23 FE is a little bit thicker.
03:22Like I said, it's kind of hard to tell,
03:24but it is a little bit slimmer.
03:27But besides that, one thing that I noticed
03:30that was interesting is that the S23 FE
03:32looks a little bit more colorful as well.
03:36It just seems a little bit more vibrant here,
03:37especially when you look at that sign right there.
03:41You guys can see.
03:42This looks a little bit more colorful here,
03:44for the most part.
03:45But displays are very good on both of these.
03:48Like I said, you would really have to,
03:50it depends on who you are, right?
03:51Do you like the bigger display?
03:53And also, the max brightness is definitely
03:56a little bit noticeable in direct sunlight.
03:58So if you're at the beach or something like that,
04:01this display will look much better.
04:03Let's talk about the processors here.
04:05So the S23 FE has the WinUI 6 update.
04:09We also got the Galaxy AI stuff on here.
04:12Also, it's got the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1,
04:15128 gigs of internal storage, 8 gigs of RAM.
04:18We've also got the Exynos 2400E processor on the S24,
04:23which is really interesting because I never really
04:25get the chance to mess with these Exynos processors
04:27because Samsung only puts the Snapdragon processors
04:31in the USA, right?
04:33So it was a pretty interesting experience
04:35to check this one out.
04:36So far, the benchmarks and stuff are pretty decent on here.
04:39I thought they did a pretty good job here.
04:41So Exynos 2400E, and then we also do have
04:45128 gigs of internal storage on this one
04:48and 8 gigs of RAM.
04:49You can see the score difference.
04:50You're getting a much better score in the single
04:53and the multi-core score as well.
04:54The Exynos processor is pretty much on par
04:58with a Galaxy, for the single core,
05:01it's on par with a Galaxy S24 Plus.
05:04And then for the multi-core, it's on par with a Galaxy
05:08or a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
05:11And I'll show you guys the 3D Mark score as well too.
05:16So I thought overall, this is a technically
05:19a better processor, in my opinion, for sure.
05:23I noticed the difference immediately in terms of
05:26this phone gets a lot warmer, easier.
05:28This phone really is not heating up like that,
05:32to be honest.
05:33So you can see we got 806, and then we got almost 2000.
05:37We got 15 frames, six frames.
05:39And then when we come down,
05:41they both lost a percent.
05:42And then they both kind of heated up the same as well too.
05:46But you can see the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3,
05:50I'm with, not the 8 Gen 3, but the 8 Gen 1,
05:52you can see it started at 31 and ended at 35.
05:56So this device was a much cooler device here.
05:58So you guys see what I'm talking about?
05:59Like I said, just using this device,
06:01just doing kind of, if you're like filming video
06:04or running benchmarks, gaming and stuff,
06:05it'll heat up way easier.
06:08And then you can see just overall better frame rates
06:11with this processor.
06:12So again, over the long run,
06:13we'll see how this Zenos processor holds up.
06:16But for right now, this is a pretty decent chip upgrade.
06:20All right, so when we get to gaming performance,
06:22again, the difference here is going to be,
06:26you get a higher frame rate as well too
06:28on games like PUBG.
06:29So you can see we're playing at 120 frames.
06:32And like I said, this device is overall a cooler device.
06:36So the gaming experience is gonna be a little bit better
06:39in my opinion.
06:40And overall, just for games like Genshin
06:42and stuff like that, more powerful games,
06:47it'll be a little bit better for that.
06:48And we can see, oh, we don't get 90 frames on here.
06:51Yeah, so I don't know why this phone doesn't get 90 frames
06:55for PUBG, but yeah, we only locked at 60 frames.
06:59Now the S23FE is still a pretty decent gaming device here
07:04for sure.
07:06You know, but if you want it to do more competitive gaming,
07:10play at those higher frame rates on Call of Duty,
07:12you know, PUBG, Genshin, stuff like that,
07:15then definitely it's a pretty good upgrade
07:18for the most part.
07:19I'm not really sure, it should be able to play
07:21at least 90 frames, but it's not.
07:24But you can, you know, you can immediately tell
07:25the difference there.
07:26Let's see if we got a speaker upgrade here.
07:29We'll start with the S23.
07:35Let's see if we got a speaker upgrade.
08:05So the difference is very minimal.
08:08The S24FE definitely has a little bit of a louder speaker,
08:11but it's very, very minimal actually.
08:23Yeah, so there's definitely a little bit of a difference
08:25between the S24FE and the S24.
08:27The S24FE definitely has a little bit of a louder speaker,
08:30but it's very, very minimal actually.
08:35I wouldn't say this is a actual speaker upgrade.
08:38For the most part, it's not like
08:40that big of a difference here.
08:42As far as the fingerprint scanners,
08:43they're both still optical fingerprint scanners,
08:45so they pretty much work the exact same,
08:48so there's no difference there.
08:50Now, we still have pretty much the same camera setup
08:53from what I was looking at with the specs and everything.
08:56So I didn't really notice too much of a difference.
08:59You guys let me know what you guys think.
09:01But again, on both of these phones,
09:02we have a 50 megapixel standard,
09:05an eight megapixel telephoto on both.
09:07They both do three times optical zoom.
09:10We also have a 12 megapixel ultra-wide on both.
09:14So here's one difference, right?
09:15So the S23FE shoots in 8K 24,
09:19and the S24 can shoot in 8K 30,
09:23so that is one difference.
09:24And then they both have a 10 megapixel selfie cam
09:27that can shoot in 4K 60.
09:29So that's pretty much it.
09:30Check out these side-by-side stills,
09:33and let me know what you guys think.
09:34Let me know what you guys think.
09:37Let me know what you guys think.
10:02Let me know what you guys think.
10:32Let me know what you guys think.
11:03All right, so this is one question
11:06that I was getting quite a bit.
11:08Is the battery life better?
11:09Is it dramatically better?
11:11I'm gonna say that the battery life is a little bit better,
11:14but it's not by much, in my opinion.
11:18The S23FE does not really have bad battery, per se,
11:22but they did improve it a little bit,
11:24but I don't think it's really that noticeable to upgrade to
11:28because, so you have a 4,500 milliamp hour battery
11:31on the S23FE, you have a 4,700 milliamp hour battery.
11:35So they could've went with a 5,000 milliamp,
11:38and the difference would've been a little bit better,
11:41in my opinion, but they did not.
11:45And they still both charge the same as well, too.
11:47So you still have 25 watt charging on both of these.
11:50They actually both have wireless
11:51and reverse wireless charging, which is really good.
11:54But as far as the battery experience,
11:55yes, it's a little bit better, but not by much.
11:58I didn't notice really that much of a difference
12:00in standby time and screen-on time.
12:02Like I said, it was just a little bit better,
12:03and it's probably due to this chipset
12:05being just a little bit more efficient.
12:08But I wouldn't upgrade if you're looking
12:10for a battery experience because it's not really there.
12:13So is this worth the upgrade?
12:15I don't really think so.
12:16There's not a lot going on here.
12:18Unless you are seriously into gaming,
12:21having the more efficient chip
12:23and also having just better optimized game settings
12:27as well, too, is gonna be really good for that.
12:30Besides that, the cameras are the same,
12:32the screens are pretty much the same for the most part.
12:36Yeah, there's not too much going on
12:38with this upgrade, in my opinion,
12:39to make me wanna upgrade, honestly.
12:42So what do you guys think?
12:44Be sure to let me know,
12:45and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
