00:00Alright guys, we got another requested video, the LG V50 versus the iPhone 14 Pro here.
00:08So I've got a lot of LG people you might be considering upgrading or you just want to
00:14see like maybe in the future you want to upgrade to an iPhone.
00:18Well let's go ahead and see the pros and cons here.
00:21So let's go ahead and get started with actually the speed.
00:24I was really curious about this.
00:25So the V50 has the Snapdragon 855 chip.
00:28You actually do have SD card support which is one thing you'll be giving up.
00:32And then you also have 128 gigs of internal storage and this one has 6 gigs of RAM on
00:39it.
00:40The iPhone does have the latest Apple A16 chip on here, 128 gigs and 6 gigs of RAM as
00:46well too.
00:47Let's go ahead and just launch some applications and see how they compare.
00:49I'll show you guys the Geekbench scores at the end.
00:52Try YouTube.
00:55Pretty much on par with each other here.
00:59Scrolling, you will see, pretty smooth on the V50 but you will notice that at 120 hertz
01:06slightly a little bit smoother so that's also one thing that'll pop out to you.
01:11And let's keep it going, let's try Google Earth.
01:15Boom.
01:16It's a little bit quicker on the iPhone for sure there.
01:21Let's go ahead and try Subway Surf.
01:35And it looks like the V50 actually got in there first, wow.
01:43Boom.
01:46Pretty nice.
01:47So you guys can see the speed difference.
01:49There's not really too much of a difference there.
01:54Let's go ahead and try PUBG.
02:00So gaming performance on the V50, I dropped the full gaming test I believe not too long
02:05ago and it still does a great job.
02:07A lot of people were surprised.
02:10Any phone guys, just a heads up, any phone with a Snapdragon 855 chip, you will get some
02:14very good gaming performance out of.
02:16You can see the iPhone got in there super quick.
02:19But yeah, you will get some really good gaming performance out of a Snapdragon 855 chip.
02:25We're able to play at the same exact settings as we can on the 14 Pro as far as PUBG is
02:32concerned.
02:33And really a lot of other games, Call of Duty, Mobile, it's able to play Fortnite.
02:38Let's go ahead and get into a game.
02:50So you guys can see performance on these two phones is pretty much on par.
02:55You're not getting a big like speed jump I would say.
02:59And even if you're a casual gamer, even when it comes to casual gaming, look we're on HDR
03:06Again, running like butter on this phone.
03:09Super smooth.
03:11So like I said, if you're a casual gamer, then you probably won't notice the speed improvements
03:16really because the chip is already pretty fast.
03:19But if you're more hardcore and you play games like Genshin and stuff like that, yes the
03:24A16 will be able to get you those more consistent frame rates for sure.
03:29But they're both still excellent gaming devices honestly.
03:32Here are the Geekbench scores, just for those that are curious.
03:36Alright, so let's go ahead and talk about the displays on these two phones.
03:43Because this is also something that is kind of awkward, right?
03:46Because they both have a sort of different approach.
03:51The V50 sort of has an older implementation with the notch versus I guess the more modern
03:57looking cutout.
03:59I guess that's the more modern look these days.
04:03But as far as the screen quality goes, the V50 actually still has a very good screen.
04:09So it's got a full 1440p display, it is a 6.4 inch P-OLED display, and it is 538 for
04:19the PPI.
04:20No 120Hz, so that's also something you're missing.
04:23The 14 Pro has the XDR OLED display, it is 120Hz, HDR10, 6.1 inches, 460 for the PPI,
04:32and then it has a 1179 by 2556 resolution here.
04:38Like I said, I guess the P-O shape kind of looks a little bit more modern than the notch
04:43for sure.
04:44It really comes down to what your thoughts is on that.
04:47But as far as display quality, like I said, you do have that 120Hz, the iPhone screen
04:52is going to be much brighter.
04:53It's actually one of the brightest displays at 2000 nits.
04:56So display upgrade could be definitely a good upgrade for sure if you like 120Hz and if
05:02you need a very bright display if you're outdoors a lot.
05:06But these both have some two excellent displays here guys.
05:10Let's go ahead and talk about the speakers, let's see which speaker is stronger starting
05:14with the V50.
05:15Oh yeah, the iPhone definitely a better speaker by far.
05:37It is way louder, just way fuller.
05:42Yeah, it almost makes the V50 sound muffled in comparison actually.
05:50Yeah, DTS is on, well I can turn it off and see if it makes a difference, but I doubt
05:58it.
05:59It actually helped a lot.
06:02Yeah, but it's still nowhere near.
06:04Yeah, the iPhone speaker is just way louder, it's way fuller, better bass, it's just overall
06:10way more clear sounding speaker as well.
06:14Also let's talk about some of the additional features here.
06:16So we do have a physical fingerprint scanner on the back on the V50 as opposed to just
06:21having the face ID on here.
06:23This also has face unlock, but you also have headphone jack with a quad DAC which is big
06:29for audio lovers.
06:30So if you love high quality audio, you'll really like the V50 here.
06:35And like I said, you do have SD card support that you will be giving up.
06:38So this phone does have the capability of having way more storage than the 14 Pro.
06:43So if you load up a lot of movies and stuff like that, you'll definitely be missing out
06:47on that.
06:48The iPhone's face ID actually works really well.
06:52Like I said, very secure, it is just an awesome face ID system to use.
06:57Also I want to mention that both these phones are IP68 dust and water resistant.
07:02And one cool thing about the V50 is that it's a completely flat phone.
07:07So that's one thing that I've always really loved about it.
07:09It's completely flat.
07:10It is a little slippery though.
07:12But definitely flat, way more comfortable to hold than the 14 Pro as well too.
07:17You guys can see that size difference there.
07:20The V50 is just taller, but the iPhone seems to be a little bit thicker, especially when
07:25it comes to these cameras.
07:26And the iPhone actually feels heavier as well too.
07:29I do like the iPhone's matte finish as well, opposed to the glossy finish on the V50 here.
07:36Hardware is really nice on both glass and metal devices here.
07:40They both support wireless charging as well, which is really nice.
07:44For build quality, they're both still very solid devices.
07:47Alright guys, let's talk about the cameras on here.
07:49I'll show you guys the side-by-side stills.
07:51The iPhone does have a 48 megapixel standard, a 12 megapixel telephoto lens, and then you
07:56also have a 12 megapixel ultrawide lens on here.
07:59It does have a macro mode on here as well.
08:03And then you also can shoot in 4K60 on the front and back.
08:06And then you have a 12 megapixel selfie cam on here as well.
08:11On the V50, you also have a triple camera setup, and you do have a 12 megapixel standard
08:16on here.
08:17You also have a 12 megapixel telephoto, it does 2x optical, and then you have a 12 megapixel
08:22ultrawide.
08:23It shoots in 4K60 with actually a dual camera setup, so it actually shoots in 8 megapixel
08:29selfie cam.
08:30Then you have a depth sensor up here that's 5 megapixels that only shoots in 1080p60.
08:35So check out these side-by-side stills, be sure to let me know what you guys think.
09:05Alright guys, here is the video on the V50.
09:27We have our 2x, here's our ultrawide.
09:46Alright guys, here's the video on the 14, here's our 0.5.
09:59And there's no telephoto, so you do have a manual zoom or digital zoom.
10:15Alright, finally, I do want to mention the battery life.
10:18My battery life experience is very good on both of these phones.
10:21Both these phones are all-day phones for me.
10:24They easily last 6 hours for screen-on time, so that is really good.
10:28So you're not downgrading or anything like that when it comes to battery life.
10:32So overall, I think that there obviously are cons, especially if you really like SE card
10:38support, really like headphone jack, it's obviously not here on the iPhone.
10:42But if you like the stills on the iPhone, as well as the cameras and stuff like that,
10:46then that's a nice upgrade.
10:48The display, having a brighter display, having a more modern looking cutout, that also could
10:55be good for you.
10:56And also just overall in general, just better software support for the iPhone.
11:02So what do you guys think?
11:03Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
