00:00The government has set up an income fund to ensure that subsidies based on petrol, health and education help the right group, said Finance Minister Amir Hamzah Azizan.
00:13He advised people not to make any speculations about it, and the announcement will only be made next year.
00:21His argument is that the withdrawal of petrol subsidies is aimed at those who have the ability, i.e. individuals who are indeed unworthy of receiving subsidies, such as the top 15% income group and foreigners.
00:33On Friday, the Finance Minister Alip Almanmuar Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman criticized the government by claiming that he plans to raise the income fund for welfare.
00:46He said it would inadvertently affect the simple income group.
00:52Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who was also the Finance Minister on Friday, announced a targeted subsidy for petrol, RUN95, will be implemented in mid-2025, with 85% of residents still receiving subsidies.
