00:00Hello there, Lee Sobot at the Yorkshire Evening Post here from Ellen Road. A fantastic evening
00:07for Leeds United this evening as they recorded a 2-0 victory against previously unbeaten
00:12Sheffield United. We're having the press conferences as I speak now and Chris Wilder being very
00:17very complimentary about Leeds and how they did this evening and you can see why. A fantastic
00:23performance from them this evening really. Goalless at the break and really should have
00:28been ahead already at that point. Missed lots and lots of chances. Just a really good
00:32performance especially when you consider that this was the first game back after the international
00:35break when obviously they've had so many players away. People like Brendan Aronson coming back
00:39especially late and I think a lot of people thought maybe this might be a bit too much
00:43to start him in this game but straight away he was in the side, lots of energy throughout
00:48the game. Very very good performance from him. His finishing wasn't the best though,
00:52he was one of those ones who missed a couple of chances and as I say, goalless at the break
00:56when Leeds could have easily been a couple of goals to the good. Larger Ramazani looked
01:01very very lively in the first half. He's a very very good player, there's no doubt about
01:04that. Obviously got big boots to fill in terms of who he's coming in for but he looks like
01:10a special player to me. One great save from the Blades keeper to tip his shot wide and
01:16another one which shaved the outside of the post was shot from a very very tight angle
01:20and there was other chances as well. Sheffield United actually started pretty well, very
01:24physical sides. Obviously they're going to be a good team, they're unbeaten. They've
01:28moved to second favourites for the league before this evening's game so you had your
01:31title favourites versus second favourites and they did start pretty well but Leeds weathered
01:37the storm if you can call it a storm and gradually turned the screw. As I said they should have
01:40been in front at half-time but they weren't, it was still goalless. And then absolute scenes
01:45when the first goal went in because how many times have we talked about Leeds not scoring
01:48from corners etc etc. Daniel Farke obviously getting asked about it more and more at press
01:52conferences and he sort of said the other week you know we're working on it and we feel
01:56like it's getting close. That was like about two or three games ago he said that and it
01:59didn't really look like it was getting that close to be quite honest but it all came good
02:03here this evening just after a double substitution as Leeds waited to take a corner. Joe Rothwell
02:08with the delivery and Graeme Smith our chief reporter gave him a 9 out of 10 as player
02:12of the match star man and I can see why he was superb in centre midfield. Rothwell's
02:17delivery, a low delivery and you sort of thought well what's that going to come to and there
02:20was Pascal Stroik arriving on the scene with a real vicious finish into the corner, a keeper
02:25no chance and this place went absolutely wild, lots of songs about scoring from a corner
02:29and what not and really nice moment to be honest. So that was 1-0 and you know I mean
02:33Chef United tried to respond, they'd actually gone reasonably close before that but I mean
02:38Leeds kind of saw it out reasonably comfortably really to be honest and it looked very much
02:42like one goal would be enough and then the second goal Matteo Josef obviously fresh from
02:47a hat-trick in midweek with Spain under 21s, sort of like yet to really get going in terms
02:53of Leeds goal scoring as a sort of you know well was first choice number nine I suppose
02:56until Joel Peru came in and started again this evening but he came on late doors and
03:01was played through by Peru, precise through ball and a fantastic finish from Matteo Josef
03:05you know pretty clinical bursting into the box and tucking that one away and that was
03:09that and that's when you knew you know that Leeds were definitely going to win the game
03:12because at 1-0 you never quite know you can have a sting in the tail and injury time or
03:16whatever as we saw at Sunderland and the less said about that one the better so I mean
03:22that's two points that Leeds should have had at Sunderland which they didn't when that
03:25turned into a draw, there's other games as well that that's been the case in, the Portsmouth
03:30opener is one that definitely springs to mind, the Burnley game you could say possibly as
03:34well so you know they've got a decent haul as it is but they obviously should have had
03:37more points than they've got but the fact is is that victory took them second into the
03:41automatic promotion places obviously that's before the rest of this weekend's games but
03:46I think it's more than just like the points tonight it's the performance I feel you know
03:51the way they played and against the Sheff United side who they're going to be there
03:55thereabouts I'm sure of that I mean you know you look through their team when they're lined
03:59up tonight their team and the bench come very very good players, very experienced manager
04:03in Chris Wilder as well and it'd be a massive shock if they're not there thereabouts you
04:06know definitely top six if not top two and Leeds brushed them aside you know pretty
04:13readily really in the end you've got to say good value you know for the 2-0 win so it's
04:18looking good they were you know they were hot favourites obviously for the league before
04:21this evening I don't know like you know how many people would agree with that in terms
04:25of how far clear they are on the betting market but on that performance you can see why and
04:28I can see you know straight after the quick look and already like as short as even money
04:33now for the title so we'll wait and see what the rest of this weekend's games bring obviously
04:38Leeds back in action here again against Watford next week on the Tuesday night so you know
04:43if we can get six points out of six from these two games that'll be a fantastic start on
04:47the way back from the international break but it's looking good I think obviously with
04:50the themes you can look at they can definitely obviously be more clinical as I say they should
04:54have been in front at half time and you sort of wonder whether that would come back and
04:58bite them again as it has done so many times not just this season but in previous seasons
05:01as well and you wondered if Sheffield United would you know go and sort of nick a 1-0 or
05:05something and yeah there was a spell in the second half they looked like they could have
05:08done that but they could definitely obviously be more clinical but they played some nice
05:12football tonight the defence were really good as well so yeah and everybody was very very
05:16happy you know wild scenes here the crowd very very happy as well indeed so it's looking
