00:00Game two went down on Sunday at three o'clock
00:02I know that weird time that they tend to continue to have but the Liberty came out on top 80 to 66 over the Lynx
00:09But what were some of the key factors to this victory for the New York Liberty first and foremost?
00:14It was the fact that we saw a defense that just was very wavering in that first game
00:18They were probably put on their heels a lot. They had some trouble adjusting
00:22They were basically outpaced in most aspects of the game versus the Lynx and that's game one
00:26Okay, so when we talk about game two, we're talking about the defense coming back to life
00:30Also, the most important factor in that is containing the key point makers for the Lynx
00:36I mean color was held to 16 points and we know how much the team relies on her action-packed play
00:40But then it was Smith with 16 and then Courtney Williams. Remember miss ice in her veins
00:4515 points now
00:47Before things come off a little too dramatic. Yes. We were calling her ice in the veins
00:51Yes, she had this monstrous performance in game one, but most importantly her role is not that particular 15 to 20 point score
00:58No, she helps out defensively
01:00She helps serve up the ball to her teammates, but she had that great performance and I think the expectation was okay
01:05She has all the grounds to build off of this maybe hit another 15 16 17 point performance
01:10So her not breaking out of 15 is not all that surprising, but it's the containing of Collier now
01:15We know that she can help out defensively
01:17We know she's a strong two-way player
01:18but most importantly the Liberty were all over her and they made sure that they kept her as
01:23Contained as possible so that they could not only get control of this game
01:27But walk away tying the series now
01:29talking back to what Dexter Henry was talking about in Brianna Stewart's performance in game one and we
01:34Expected that she was gonna come out a lot more fiery. Well
01:38For starters when we're looking at best bets and angles for that game, too
01:41Stewart was sitting at over under 19 points and I remember talking to Dexter about him being like is this is this okay for her?
01:48Like we know that she's a natural 20-point score
01:50but are the books indicating that she may not reach that are the books indicating that
01:54Minnesota might have her number when it comes to locking her down or minimizing her role
01:58That was not the case because game two not only did she contribute 21 points hitting the over on the 19 of the over under
02:06Total that was distributed to her. No, she also had a record seven steals in game two
02:11So she's leveled up tremendously not only packing on the points
02:15but showing up defensively for her team and that was exactly what we talked about last week on WNBA today the fact that she had
02:21To be that Swiss Army Knight for her team that we've seen her be time and time again
02:25And yes, it's a lot of pressure to have the entire team on your shoulders
02:28But that's what it comes down to in these postgame runs
02:30It's your star players that have to show up and Stewart showed up, but it doesn't stop there for the Liberty
02:36Hamilton came in hot adding 20 points into the mix of Randa Stewart's
02:40Massive performance helping them get to that 80 to 66 as for other key stoppers in this victory for the New York Liberty
02:47Running through this quick matchup. You also have
02:50I NSQ 15 points
02:52but why it's important to point out where she's at on the charts is because
02:55She's come in in the most clutch moments and anybody who watched the game on Wednesday knows exactly what I'm talking about
03:01But before we get ahead ourselves and get over to game three
03:04I'm just gonna reiterate the fact that collar was held to the 16 points
03:07Carlton held to eight points four rebounds and three assists Smith at the 14 Williams at the 15 and then so on and so forth
03:15So they were just completely leveled out which also touches back on when we were talking about the total
03:19With Dexter Henry as well as coach because we've seen the total go over because of some of the big plays that were coming in
03:24That fourth quarter. So just talk about checking the boxes all around the Liberty
03:28We're able to make that game entirely their own hence leveling out the series making it 1-1 now
03:33Where does that put us for game three and a crucial game for tonight game three?
03:40You have a game that started out all
03:42Minnesota and of course y'all know me. I was very excited to see Minnesota come out strong
03:48I was very excited to see McBride making that game entirely her own
03:52I mean, I thought that this was a shoe-in for Minnesota to take back the series lead and break that tie
03:56But it was McBride McBride all the way in the first half of game three, which made me
04:02Genuinely think this was a lockdown this was done. It was over with halftime goes in. Well, it's all about the adjustments
04:07It's all about your ability to have those rebounds and then
04:11Not only does Brianna Stewart come back in the mix continuing to show up for her team
04:15But it's Brianna Nesk or it's Sabrina and sq. So Brianna Stewart put up 30 points 11 rebounds and one assist
04:23Talk about taking the next step in the next right after a monster game two after falling short in game one to her own
04:29Personal standard, but why I got that mixed up for a second mentioning Sabrina
04:34I and ask you because it's what she did with less than a second left on the clock
04:39I'm talking about fourth quarter action being the most intense
04:42It's ever been a key three-pointer to give New York Liberty the lead and then the clock runs out and they secure
04:48Game three taking the series lead two to one
04:51so now the Liberty are staring down the trophy staring down the opportunity to be champions and
04:57We've talked about it so much here in WNBA today what Sabrina I and ask you bring to the table
05:02She might not be a 20-point person every single night. She doesn't have to be
05:05It's those key moments. She has the ability to find the net and she did that in such a crucial moment
05:11I mean, I'm
05:12Everybody paused on the court when that play happened because we weren't even sure if the clock genuinely had one second left on it
05:17And that's exactly what it was one second of play as soon as they decided that was clear
05:21It was a wrap for the Liberty taking an 80 to 77 victory over the Minnesota Lynx
