More than 400 animals have been rescued from a traffic ring in Barcelona, leading to the arrest of 13 people. The pups and kittens you see are from expensive breeds, bred in illegal pet farms and bought illegally from social networks. Veuer’s Chloe Hurst has the story.

00:15Riot police officers raided houses, veterinary centres and pet shops,
00:20arresting those involved and saving the animals.
00:23The operation began in 2020 and according to Sky News,
00:27numerous police forces and law enforcement bodies were involved,
00:30including Interpol and Andorran police.
00:33Police have said the 13 people have been arrested on suspicion of animal abuse,
00:37fraud, falsification of documents and money laundering.
00:40A vet would vouch for their good condition,
00:43yet consumers, attracted by the low price of the animals,
00:46would find their new pet would become ill shortly after being sold.
