00:00For me, Halloween is all about the fun,
00:02the fright, with minimal fuss.
00:05I've got some treats to show you,
00:06some scary, some fun, and some to sip.
00:11Spooky.
00:13That's just cute.
00:14It's just cute.
00:14It is ugly, but in a good way.
00:19I love when a vision comes together.
00:22I'm starting with my sausage charcuterie head.
00:24He's spooky, but he's easy and people will actually eat him.
00:28You know, a lot of these crafts look so over the top
00:31and people are scared to dig in.
00:32This is not that, okay?
00:34So you're gonna start by buying a little mannequin head.
00:36You can get turkey or beef sticks like this.
00:39Then we are going to take our little sausages
00:41and cut them into thirds so they're like,
00:44I don't know, inch, inch and a half thick.
00:46Take your sausage stick piece, some toothpicks,
00:49give it a little stab, and then go to town.
00:53I like to kind of form around the eyes
00:56because we're gonna put something in the eyes later.
00:59And then you want these sticking out,
01:00kind of like, who does that?
01:02Like, who has those things sticking out of their heads?
01:05My ex-wife.
01:06Your ex-wife.
01:07Sometimes as you start to build it,
01:09it gets a little lopsided and wants to flip over.
01:11You can cut crosswise a pumpkin,
01:14or this is a spaghetti squash,
01:16and then just kind of hollow it out
01:18to where it can act as a little holder for your head.
01:22From here, don't they look like a rocker?
01:24Anyway, keep going.
01:25Here we go.
01:35That's it, Hellraiser.
01:36Is that who it is?
01:37Show me a picture of Hellraiser.
01:39This, this is who we're making.
01:42Pinhead.
01:43All right, the hard part's done.
01:45Now is the time to have the fun,
01:48adding in more of your favorite charcuterie elements.
01:52And we're just gonna kind of fill in the blanks.
01:54I might make some ears.
01:58I'm sorry, but that looks like an ear,
02:00but in a good way.
02:01Oh yeah, oh yeah.
02:03And then I'm just gonna kind of fill in the blanks.
02:06I'm just gonna use the rest of this
02:08to kind of cover up the neck.
02:10Now I'm making the eyeballs.
02:12I'm using these little marinated mozzarella balls.
02:15Just shove them in.
02:18Some olives.
02:20Something like air fuel.
02:23Okay, so I'm gonna use some cocktail peanuts,
02:26and these are gonna be my teeth.
02:28And I'm gonna glue them on
02:29with a little bit of cream cheese.
02:31Trust the process.
02:33And then take your cocktail peanuts
02:34that are a little more oval in shape,
02:37and then just press them in as teeth.
02:39And then you're just gonna fill in
02:41all the nooks and crannies with some roasted red peppers.
02:46You're gonna cut these into strips
02:48and kind of just drape them going down his face,
02:51you know, like bloody guts.
02:54All right, I got a different eye.
02:56The green just wasn't doing it for me,
02:57so we're going black eyes.
03:00Take a little hot sauce,
03:02and we're gonna make these eyes bloodshot.
03:05I'm gonna take a black olive,
03:07and then on that little piece of toothpick,
03:10place our roasted red pepper.
03:14Okay, here's how you serve this.
03:16Get them on a platter.
03:17Add in cheeses, crackers, pickles, and peppers.
03:23Everything to complete a meat and cheese tray.
03:27I love when a vision comes together.
03:32Look how cute.
03:33People would eat that.
03:35Is it cute or creepy?
03:38And that, my friends,
03:39is how you make the charcuterie head.
03:42As impressive as this is,
03:44what I love most about this kind of appetizer or food craft
03:47is that there is no cooking required.
03:50Very kid-friendly, very adult-friendly, easy to eat.
03:55And what's not to love?
03:57Get over there.
04:02That's terrifying.
04:08How about something for the kids?
04:10We're gonna call this segment Donuts and Milk.
04:13It's like a two-for-one special.
04:15These are my kind of food crafts.
04:18These are ones they'll actually eat, they'll like.
04:21They take two seconds to make.
04:23All right, for this one, we're making vampire donuts.
04:26All you need, go to the party store
04:28and get some of these little vampire teeth.
04:31Get yourself a donut.
04:33Take the teeth, press them into the center of the donut.
04:38Pipe on a little frosting.
04:40And then you can get yourself some edible eyes.
04:44You can find these everywhere.
04:45You can also just leave it as frosting.
04:48That's just cute.
04:49It's just cute.
04:50The kids get the treat,
04:52and then they'll play with the teeth.
04:54This is fun to do with just a variety of donuts also.
04:59Monsters, vampires, possibilities are endless.
05:02It's cute, y'all.
05:03It's cute, cute, cute.
05:05Part two of our Donuts and Milk treat, spider donuts.
05:10You're gonna take your donut, add in some glue.
05:13Place down your Oreo.
05:16Then, as we know, spiders have eight legs.
05:20Wait till you see what I'm serving with this.
05:24They're really about to come for me
05:26with the sugar for kids.
05:30Guess what?
05:30It's Halloween.
05:32Live a little.
05:33Ghost milk.
05:34Vampire donuts, spider donuts, and ghost milk.
05:37I mean, how fun does that sound?
05:40Take some marshmallow cream,
05:42and then you put it on the inside of your cup.
05:46Best part is, the more imperfect, the better.
05:50That's my kind of food craft.
05:52Sharpie.
05:53Make yourself some eyes.
05:56Do they just have eyes?
05:58I feel like you put a mouth.
06:02You just do the eyes?
06:04Yeah, remember peanuts?
06:06And then,
06:10chocolate milk.
06:11If that's not the cutest thing you've ever seen.
06:15I mean, that is so cute.
06:16It makes me wanna drink it.
06:20My son will be all over this, and he's 10.
06:22He would still like all this.
06:24Oookay.
06:28You'll be mom of the year with these.
06:31Rumor on the street is that you wanna know
06:33how to make fake blood.
06:37Edible blood.
06:38Well, let me show you.
06:40Take some cold water.
06:44Oh, cornstarch.
06:45Hang on, let me get that.
06:50Back to my lab.
06:52Two tablespoons of cornstarch.
06:54We are making just a slurry.
06:57Just give that a stir until it's all dissolved.
07:00Come here.
07:03Into a saucepan, a cup of corn syrup.
07:07Blood is thicker than water, as they say.
07:11All right, so in goes some food coloring.
07:14And then, just like a drop of blue
07:17is gonna intensify the red,
07:18make it a little more like blood.
07:21I'm gonna get my chains.
07:26So dramatic.
07:28Okay, and then I'm going to whisk in
07:29the cornstarch mixture and bring this up to a simmer.
07:34This is good to add to your drinks
07:38for something fun.
07:38You can drizzle this over just some plain cupcakes
07:41or cookies or cinnamon rolls.
07:44That's not to love.
07:46Another thing we're not really gonna freak out about here
07:48is the chemicals, okay?
07:51Because if you're drinking large amounts of this,
07:57we have other issues, you know?
07:59This is meant to be a little garnish,
08:00just a little sprinkle, a little splatter, if you will.
08:04Now we're talking.
08:06The cornstarch is doing its job in thickening up.
08:09Whoa.
08:12Look at that, looks like you're boiling your brains.
08:16Then you're just gonna take it off the heat,
08:18let it cool to room temperature.
08:25Yes.
08:28And how does she taste?
08:31Just as I imagine my blood does.
08:34Sweet.
08:36But there you have it.
08:37Now you know how to make fake blood.
08:46How about a little treat for the adults?
08:50I'm gonna call this one the Monster Mash, okay?
08:53This is not my typical cocktail because you're gonna look
08:56and you're gonna think it's a little bit sweet,
08:58but it's also a little bit strong
09:00and it's absolutely delicious.
09:02Ice in a shaker.
09:04Coconut rum.
09:06Melon liqueur.
09:09Splash of pineapple.
09:13And a spritz of whipped cream.
09:15Give her a shake.
09:17The Monster Mash, I hope you're a fan of science.
09:21Now, wait.
09:24This martini has a rim,
09:26so I'm just gonna dip my martini glass.
09:29Spread it around.
09:31Add in some sprinkles.
09:33Purple is great for Halloween.
09:34You could also do black.
09:35And if you bought the candy eyeballs for the kids,
09:38why not use them?
09:41I should've started with this.
09:43If that's not the cutest thing you've ever seen,
09:45I don't know what is.
09:49You're gonna die at this one.
09:52It's boozy, which is why it's not like overpowering sweet.
09:57These also can be super dangerous.
10:01So dangerous, it's scary.
10:04Everyone wants to pull out a little trick
10:07during Halloween with dry ice.
10:09Let's do it.
10:09Let me show you how to use it safely.
10:13Dry ice is a popular thing to add.
10:16What are you doing with your eyes?
10:19Hi.
10:21Dry ice is a fun thing to add to your party tables
10:24in the form of just atmosphere or in your cocktails.
10:27It's still a little bit intimidating,
10:29but I thought for this cocktail,
10:31or flip the glass around and call it a witch's cauldron,
10:35or whatever you wanna do, dry ice could be fun.
10:38Get you some safety gloves on.
10:42You can purchase it usually by the pound
10:44at your grocery store.
10:45It doesn't last more than a day,
10:48so you're gonna wanna get it the same day of your party.
10:50If you get it the day before, it's gonna be evaporated
10:52by the time you wanna use it.
10:54For our cocktails, we want small pieces.
10:56We're not looking to let them bubble and boil forever.
11:00So to do that, take you a hammer.
11:04Beat it into small pieces, just little ice cubes.
11:07All right, I'm gonna cut the bag open.
11:11Don't touch it.
11:12Okay, do not touch.
11:15Okay, here's the part to really remember.
11:17We're gonna drop this into the drink.
11:20It will smoke and do all the cool stuff
11:23for about five minutes.
11:24You don't want to try to drink it at that point.
11:27Say, this is the time for you to get your selfie.
11:30Smile.
11:34Oh, I really wanna sip it, but I won't.
11:38And then you can also put it in little bowls
11:40around your tablescape and just watch the smoke
11:44and the scary vibes come to your party.
11:48How'd we do?
11:49I think we did something for everyone.
11:52These are fun, they're doable, super practical,
11:56and your family's gonna love it.
11:58If you do try any of these this Halloween,
11:59please send me a picture.
12:01Cheers.
12:02Because I'm just here for the booze.
12:04Get it?
12:06Natalie, look at this one.
12:10Oh, I love those.
12:13How cute is that?
12:14It's really cute.
12:15Does it have Kahlua in it?
12:16You'd be too.
12:17Oh.
12:19Wait, what?
12:20We could put Kahlua in this, or Bailey's.
