00:00My name is Christopher Thompson. I'm a GB athlete, Olympian two times and I proudly
00:15can't remember seven or eight times European medalist and I've been in I've been a runner
00:20well I've been a runner for nearly 30 years but I've been a professional athlete for over 20
00:25and this is going to be my final weekend as an elite athlete which a bit emotional bit strange
00:33but yeah it's a long time new chapters new careers um I'll always be a runner but this is
00:39my last weekend as an officially as an elite athlete yeah
00:45yeah may as well may as well do both while I'm here when in Portsmouth do everything right
00:50I think and I might even be doing the kiddie run as well with my son so
00:53tick every box that'd be impressive I could do every single race
01:04hi I'm Lily Partridge and this is I'm Ben Connor and we're at the Great South Run in Portsmouth
01:14naturally it's always windy down in Portsmouth but no it's it's nice to come back um I've been
01:19down here the last two years so it'll be really nice to hopefully do the hat trick um but yeah
01:25I'm just looking forward to another great event um I've done it the last couple of years so it's
01:30I'm looking forward to it yeah um last time I was down here was 2022 um unfortunately I
01:34missed last year because I had a big injury so it's great to be back here again that's for sure
01:39and try and replicate what I did in 2022 and get the win I mean I'd yeah I'd absolutely love to
01:46get a pb on Sunday um I think the weather gods may have another idea um but yeah I mean hopefully
01:54it's just a good competitive race I think that's what like I certainly prefer like about the Great
01:58South Run like it's always like a really good race as opposed to like a time trial um so yeah
02:05it kind of keeps it interesting something a bit different that we don't always get to do
02:09my name's Tim Poynton I live in I come from Haven I have a wife and two sons and I'm running for the
02:15British Heart Foundation with a group of 15 of us and just trying to raise as much money as we can
02:23for such a worthy cause a year ago today I was on I was put on the heart transplant list
02:32um normally the wait for a transplant is a year I have my transplant nine days later
02:42I spent three weeks in hospital up at Papworth and they let me out and I set myself a goal
02:48to run the Great South Run this year and if I finish it hopefully I've achieved that
02:56hello I'm Nicola Green I'm the people operations lead for Metaverse VR
03:01I'm Anthony Drummond I work at Metaverse VR in as a training consultant and requirements
03:06and I'm Neil Sutton I'm the training technology lead for Metaverse VR
03:12tragically on the 1st of April my wife and I we lost one of our daughters
03:18to it's called sudden unexplained death in childhood so you know obviously at the time
03:26even now it's uh it's it's hard but we um we kind of we've come together as a you know a small
03:31company very much a family um to you know they've been incredible supporting my wife
03:36Andreana and our other daughter Amelia through the initial stages and Nicola thought it would
03:42be really nice and a bit of a tribute to Abigail um to all run together and ultimately to raise
03:47money for SUDC which is a UK charity and that's that's who we're raising money for today um so
03:54you know really tragic circumstances but out of something so so bad you know there's got to be
03:59some good and some some kind of light out of it so um so yeah but that's why we're running really
04:03so yeah
