00:00Hey friends, welcome. You ever do this? You ever think, hey, if I knew in my 20s
00:06what I know today, my life would be completely different. I do that quite
00:12often. I realize that the path I followed up to this age has gotten me where I am
00:18and I'm completely happy with my life. But what if I knew in my 20s what I know
00:23today? How would things be different? You ever ask yourself that question? Well,
00:30wait, now hold up. Imagine for a moment that you are 20 again, standing on the
00:37brink of your adult life with all the possibilities ahead of you. The world
00:41feels wide open yet overwhelming. You have dreams, ambitions, and an eagerness
00:48to prove yourself. But deep down you might also feel uncertain, wondering
00:54which direction to take or what choices will truly matter in the long run. Now,
01:00imagine if someone handed you a roadmap, a set of guiding principles drawn from
01:07years of experience that could help you navigate the highs and lows with
01:12confidence. That's what I want to offer today. The best self-improvement advice I
01:19wish I'd known when I was 20. Whether you're in your 20s now or simply
01:25reflecting on them, these are insights that can change the course of your life.
01:31This is the best self-improvement advice I wish I knew at 20. Focus on progress, not
01:41perfection. You know, at 20, I used to fall into the perfectionist trap. I
01:47believed that if I wasn't doing something perfectly, it wasn't worth
01:51doing at all. But perfection is an illusion and chasing it only leads to
01:57frustration and stagnation. What I've learned is that life is about forward
02:03movement, not flawless execution. It's about showing up, making mistakes,
02:10learning, and getting better every day. Progress is built one step at a time.
02:17Don't wait until you feel ready or until conditions are perfect. Start now, where
02:24you are and with what you have. Trust me, over time those small efforts compound
02:31into something truly extraordinary. Surround yourself with the right people.
02:39Oh Lord, I wish I would have known this when I was 20. But I didn't fully
02:44appreciate at that time how much the people around me were influencing my
02:49decisions, my mindset, and my path. You know, it's said that you're the average
02:54of the five people you spend the most time with, and I found that to be true.
02:59Looking back, I realized that I spent too much time with people who kept me in my
03:05comfort zone, rather than pushing me to grow. You know, if you want to rise, you
03:12need to be around people who challenge you, encourage you, and have your best
03:17interests at heart. Surround yourself with people who are smarter, kinder, and
03:23more driven than you are, because you know their energy, values, and ambition
03:29will shape your life's trajectory, whether you want it to or not. Invest in
03:38yourself relentlessly. You know, in my early 20s, I focused more on outward
03:45achievement, starting companies, building a career, making money. Heck, when I was in
03:51my early 20s, my dream was to have a vault full of gold coins that I could
03:56swim in like Richie Rich. I wanted amazing things, but I was seeking
04:03validation. You know, I wish I'd understood sooner that the most
04:07important investment I could make was in myself, not just in formal education. I
04:14have an Ivy League MBA, but I'm thinking personal growth, learning new skills, and
04:21expanding my mindset. You know, I recommend you read voraciously, seek out
04:28mentors, take courses, and embrace every opportunity to grow. The return on
04:35investing in yourself is immeasurable. The more you know, the more
04:41valuable you become. And you see, this is misunderstood. I want to say that one
04:45more time. The more you know, the more valuable you become. It sounds like
04:51something your boss would say to you, but I'm gonna tell you right now, the more
04:55you know, the more valuable you are in your career, but also in every aspect of
05:02your life. It's true. Embrace failure as a teacher. When I was
05:08younger, failure terrified me. I thought every misstep was a reflection of my own
05:14self-worth, that it was defining me. I couldn't have been more wrong. You know,
05:19failure isn't the end. It's part of the process. It's how you learn,
05:25it's how you evolve, how you build resilience. Every failure contains a
05:31lesson about what works, what doesn't, and what you need to adjust. The sooner you
05:38embrace failure, trust me, the faster you'll grow. Looking back now, I can see
05:45that the failures I feared the most were the ones that taught me the most. They
05:50gave me the clarity and strength I needed to succeed later on. Practice
05:58daily gratitude. You know, in my 20s I was so focused on what I didn't have, and on
06:04the things I was striving to achieve, that I rarely paused to appreciate the
06:09blessings already present in my life. You know, gratitude is one of the most
06:14powerful practices you can adopt. It shifts your focus from scarcity to
06:19abundance, and it reminds you that even in the moments of challenge, you have
06:25more than enough. You know, I recommend you start each day by listing a few
06:30things you're grateful for. It can be your health, your relationships, your
06:35opportunities. Gratitude isn't just a feel-good practice. It's a mindset shift
06:42that changes the way you see the world and your place in it. So, as we close, I
06:49want to reflect on these lessons, not just as abstract ideas, but as actions
06:55you can take right now. Progress over perfection. Curating your inner circle.
07:02Remember, sometimes when we lose people, it's not always a loss. Invest in
07:09yourself. Embrace failure and practicing gratitude. You know what, these aren't
07:15just words. These are blueprints for a fulfilled and successful life. If I could
07:21go back and tell my 20-year-old self just one thing, it would be this. Don't
07:27wait. Don't wait for the perfect moment to start. Don't wait for someone else to
07:33give you permission. Don't wait until you feel ready. Start now. These principles in
07:42your pocket, I promise you, can change your future, and your future you will
07:47thank you for it. I really wish there's a lot of these lessons I'm talking about
07:53now that that I would have known back in my 20s, but here's the thing. These
07:59lessons don't have an expiration date. They apply whether you're 20, 40, or 60. So
08:06the question I leave you with today is, what will you do with the time
08:11you have? Will you keep waiting, or will you take the first step towards the life
08:17you want to create? You know, the answer is up to you. And remember, your future is
08:24shaped by the choices you make today. Choose wisely. Choose boldly. But above
08:31all, choose growth. Because if anybody can do it, you can. And if anybody deserves it,
08:40you do. 100%. There's so much available out there to you, regardless of where you
08:48come from, regardless of what you've been told that you can accomplish, or that
08:53you're capable of doing. That's all a bunch of crap. The world is open to
08:59everyone, and the opportunities that are available to anybody you see on TV and
09:04magazines, or wherever else you get your ideal of what a better life can be, all
09:11of that can be yours. Because the secret is, if it's been accomplished by another
09:17human being, you as a human being can accomplish it as well. These people
09:24aren't special. They're not doing anything extraordinary. They're not doing
09:28anything that you can't do with the brain on your shoulders, and the
09:33motivation and the will you have in your heart. 100%. If anybody believes in
09:40you, I absolutely do. And if anybody thinks you can do it, I'm on your side.
09:46I'm with you. Let's get those shoes on and get moving. And remember, to
09:51accomplish things, we've got to take action. Today would be a great day to
09:56start taking that action. I'll see you tomorrow, friends. Take care.
