00:00I'm Damien. I know, I know you're Damien. How are you? I know you're Jodie now.
00:04Ah, see? See. It's lovely to see you. Yeah, and you.
00:08Playing a vampire, I feel like every actor's got to do it at some point.
00:12Interesting. No, I do. I think
00:16everybody's got to do it. And there's also a bit of sex appeal about vampires. Did you find that?
00:20Yeah, I felt very sexy playing the vampire. Yes.
00:24No, I didn't. Being a vampire was not on my bucket list
00:28actually, but it was when Eros Lin
00:32called me up and I'd done a lovely film with him
00:36two years ago called Dream Horse and he said we've got
00:40twins in this vampire film and
00:44I think that is immediately interesting
00:48to an actor and to play, I suppose
00:52especially within a vampire genre, the idea that you are going to be playing
00:56essentially two characters
01:00represent one person. So there's the light and the dark in all of us.
01:04And I think that was immediately interesting and that is true of this film.
01:08So yeah, I enjoyed doing it. Absolutely. And is this
01:12accent reminding you of anyone that you worked with on the film? A little bit.
01:16Yours is stronger. I know. Kelly MacDonald has got the most dulcet, beautiful tones
01:20and then the meat. She does. She's a beautiful person and actress.
01:24I loved working with her. Yeah, she's just like so warm and sweet as well.
01:28She's gorgeous and she's funny as well. She's got a funny bone. So she
01:32because the film is funny, it's comedic and she found moments
01:36in it all the way through because her character is
01:40sort of the most heroic. She's the one who's buried
01:44the most, has repressed the most and doesn't succumb
01:48like Peter, her weak husband does halfway
01:52through the film, even though he's the one that's moved them all out there to put
01:56them effectively in the vampire programs. Vampires Anonymous
02:00to try and live a clean,
02:04dry, normal, sensible life. But they're
02:08all miserable. They're all miserable. And that's one of the reasons I took
02:12the film. I liked the premise of it. I thought it was a comedic opening
02:16premise that this family of vampires living in the suburbs
02:20trying to be normal, but they're pale, pasty, grumpy,
02:24irritable. You know, they're denying themselves. It's like being on a really
02:28long diet. They're really miserable. They're hating it.
02:32And, you know, they're denying themselves because they're vampires. They're denying
02:36themselves the one thing they need, which is blood. It's their oxygen.
02:40It's just like me in January. I could relate to them.
02:44Well, that's it. It's like dry January. Who does that? I know.
02:48Scottish. It's impossible. By the way, the best month to go dry is
02:52November. That's my birthday month, though. 26th of November.
02:56Well, I'll give you 25 days then. That's enough.
03:00And then you'll need to recover for three or four days after your birthday.
03:04And then it's Christmas time. And then December, you've got to fill your boots because it's December and there are lots of parties.
03:08But the best way to prepare is November.
03:12Well, I've just come back from Lisbon and I'm on a detox, so I might try and hold out on that.
03:16Listen, one thing that I noticed in this film, and it's quite niche, it's about 20 minutes
03:20in, but you're running along the beach. Yeah. And I was thinking
03:24you're giving Tom Cruise a run for his money. Your run was really good.
03:28I'm a good runner. Yeah. It was like a strong
03:32film run. That's great. That's like saying, I've heard you can read.
03:36It's great. No one's complimenting. I've just always taken running for granted.
03:40But you've actually picked it up. No, but if you've seen videos of me running,
03:44it's not so good. I wasn't sort of running. No, no, you were very straight.
03:48Back was straight. It was really Mission Impossible vibes. Oh, good.
03:52How long did that take to film? Thank you. It wasn't me. No, it was me.
03:56How long did it take to film? Was it one take? Well, not that
04:00long. Because you were running? I couldn't do it that often.
04:04No, we did it a few times, actually.
04:08And we were losing the light. So we had to do it quite quickly. So I had
04:12to run it very quickly and then go back to the start again. But
04:16I've never been complimented on my running before.
04:20I noticed niche, but I do notice people that can run well.
04:24Do you think it's attractive that a man can run well? I do, actually.
04:28Because I'm not a runner. It's not for me. One thing I also noticed that was quite
04:32random, but I absolutely loved it. It was one of my favourite things of this year,
04:36was you walking over London Bridge, driving sheep,
04:40is it called? It's called driving sheep. Because if you are a driver of sheep, you are a
04:44drover. A drover? Yeah. Thank you for watching me
04:48being a shepherd. I loved it. For a day, I enjoyed it. It was so random, but so
04:52iconic at the same time. I happen to be a freeman in the City of London
04:56for Services for Drama, thank you for asking. And because I went
05:00to the Guildhall, which is in the City of London, and so there was a bit of a
05:04connection, yada, yada, yada. So they said, as a freeman, you are still
05:08allowed, the law's never been changed, to drive
05:12a flock of sheep over the River Thames
05:16into the City of London. And if you're allowed to, why not do it? Well, they said, come,
05:20it's a big charity day, you'll raise a lot of money, and I think we did. And did the
05:24sheep behave for you? They did. I was able to use their
05:28sheep dog. Goes left,
05:32goes right. When did we get the film about this? About you being a freeman
05:36and herding sheep. That being a shepherd? Yeah! It suits you.
05:40That would be great. That's the next one. I'm going to talk to the production team.
05:44We'll get it sorted.
