Ghana's leading produce, cocoa, is packaged in jute sacks, while flour is stored in cotton sacks. Once used, these fabrics often get discarded. A female-led organization is now turning these jute and cotton sacks into eco-friendly reusable bags. The initiative serves as an economic empowerment and a model for building a successful eco-friendly business.

00:00The whole point is for it to be reasonable, for it to be sustainable, for people to be
00:29able to realize that they're making an impact from the bag that they use.
00:34So we source the material from Ghana, we make the bags in Ghana, we also basically produce
00:41sourcing from end to finish everything in Ghana.
00:44So we really wanted to make sure that we are creating a brand that preaches about sustainability,
00:51at the same time a brand that is also fighting against plastic waste and also providing employment
00:56for women at large.
01:11Climate entrepreneurship also remains critical because the sector is almost non-traditional.
01:19What it then means is that it creates new market and business opportunities, which in
01:27turn creates new job opportunities and helps with diversification of the economy.
01:49Understanding that sustainability can also be very expensive.
01:54So really the balance between sustainability and affordability, because we do want to make
01:58sure that our products actually get to the market to people all across Ghana.
02:04But really finding the balance between sustainability and affordability has been quite challenging.
02:09But we are very certain that we will get to that point where we'll be able to provide
02:14for everybody and provide it as affordably as we can.
