00:42First up, we're in Los Angeles, California, where police are in pursuit of a stolen Department
00:56of Water and Power vehicle.
00:58Authorities became aware of the theft after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting the
01:03operator of an SUV driving recklessly.
01:06Cali City, 911.
01:07Operator 376.
01:08I just was involved in a hit and run crash.
01:11Is there any city property involved, any street signs, light poles, car hydrants?
01:15No, but the car that hit me was from the Water and Power, so maybe, yes.
01:20Cali City, 911.
01:21Operator 593.
01:22Hi, um, a guy with a Water and Power truck crashed into my mother-in-law's house and
01:29he hit my mother-in-law and my boyfriend.
01:32He was a guy with tattoos and I guess he was drunk or something.
01:36Following these reports, a radio call went out to on-duty officers.
01:40Suspect vehicle is described as a white 2009 GMC Yukon TWP truck.
01:45Suspect is described as male, possibly Hispanic, thin-billed, white tank top.
01:52Patrol officers soon spot the vehicle.
01:55We're in pursuit of a TDW truck.
01:58Requesting back up.
02:00Requesting back up.
02:01And track it to an industrial parking lot.
02:04The suspect seemingly unaware that they're driving toward a dead end.
02:09Now trapped in the lot, a security camera captures the vehicle smashing through a closed gate.
02:16Get off the freeway.
02:17Get off, get off, get off.
02:19Armed with info from a police helicopter, LAPD dispatch directs officers to the scene.
02:25Officers coming off that, off that, your next right, your next right.
02:29Wait for the scar spot.
02:31More officers arrive and take position at the entrance of the lot.
02:35Hold on, he's turning around.
02:36Officers coming off that ramp, making their way.
02:38Now cornered, the suspect makes a desperate move.
02:42Hey, get out the...
02:48Watch it again from the parking lot security camera.
02:54The driver hits the gas and speeds down the hill,
02:58smashing through the barricade with police officers still inside.
03:06Be careful.
03:11I'm all right, I'm all right.
03:15I'm all right, I'm all right.
03:18Then, after crashing into this van, the stolen SUV seems temporarily disabled.
03:26Officers seize the moment.
03:28Hey, get on the...
03:30Get on the...
03:32Hands up, hands up.
03:35Hold fire, hold fire.
03:38Now, at a standoff, a police supervisor's body camera records the scene.
03:44In that scene, I'm going to be instant commander.
03:46Suspect is armed with a screwdriver at this point.
03:53Grab some less lethal, just grab some less lethal.
03:56Do you have any there? Taser?
04:00The car's disabled, bro, it's not going anywhere.
04:02But seconds later, the suspect is moving again.
04:07I need other units to block this side of the parking lot.
04:12Hey, bring your car over here.
04:14Actually, bring your car over here on this side.
04:19Stand by, stand by. Vehicle's moving forward now.
04:22Hey, hey, put some spike strips.
04:26But just as officers are getting spike strips in place,
04:29the driver speeds directly toward them a second time.
04:40He makes it through the police barricade and back out onto the road.
04:49No, no, no, watch the...
04:51Officers pursue on foot and by car.
04:54You guys good? Everyone good?
05:00And it's not long before they catch back up to the mostly disabled vehicle.
05:07Hey, grab some less lethal now.
05:11Hey, give me a cover.
05:16Hours later...
05:21Following a lengthy standoff, a SWAT team arrives...
05:29...and reaches a badly injured suspect without further incident.
05:36Don't resist.
05:42We're going to get you some medical help on that.
05:44The suspect, 28-year-old Manuel Ramirez, was transported to a local hospital...
05:48...where he was treated for multiple injuries, including a fractured leg and gunshot wounds.
05:53Later, he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with a vehicle on a police officer.
05:58Ramirez has yet to enter a plea, and his bond was set at $152,000.
06:04His case is pended.
06:06If found guilty of all charges, Ramirez could be facing up to 40 years in prison.
06:13Next, we're in Indian River County, Florida...
06:16...where county sheriff's deputies are in pursuit of a white sedan...
06:20...driven by 28-year-old fugitive Nicholas Porchesco...
06:24...a man wanted for attempted murder.
06:27Yeah, last I heard he was passing orange.
06:30He stabbed someone at a pediatric office.
06:33Earlier that day, police say Porchesco walked into the office of 65-year-old Dr. Philip Colazzo...
06:40...a man he'd known for over 10 years and stabbed him multiple times in the head, neck and abdomen.
06:46The motive for the attack is unknown.
06:49Now, after allegedly fleeing from the doctor's office in Palm Beach County...
06:53...Porchesco is tracked by local police...
06:56...who alert authorities north of them in Indian River County...
07:00...that the suspect is heading their way on Interstate 95.
07:10Indian River deputies quickly spot Porchesco's vehicle...
07:14...and begin their pursuit on the ground and in the air.
07:24Porchesco continues to drive dangerously fast around other vehicles on the highway.
07:36This high-speed pursuit has now reached speeds of nearly 150 miles an hour.
07:42He moves to the inside shoulder and avoids traffic.
07:45But up ahead, helicopter units are coordinating with ground units to lay a trap.
07:51Deputies aboard the helicopter direct the operation, which includes shutting down the highway.
08:22Be ready for him to go around our trucks, though.
08:35Porchesco seems to spot the spike strips...
08:40...and tries to swerve around them.
08:43But the officer adjusts and pulls the strips directly into his path.
08:52He's ahead of the stop stick.
08:54He was a successful hit on the stop stick. He's in the middle lane.
08:58No traffic ahead. It's clear ahead.
09:00Back left tire is out. It's gone.
09:03The spike strips take out Porchesco's back left tire.
09:06And now, he's losing speed.
09:10Once again, middle lane. Left tire is out.
09:13He's slowing down. He is slowing down significantly. 158 left lane.
09:18Slowing down significantly.
09:20As officers close in, Porchesco makes a final, desperate attempt to escape by crossing a swampy median.
09:32Porchesco makes it to the southbound side of the interstate.
09:35But one of the officers is right on his tail and attempts a pit maneuver.
09:41Without success.
09:43We got east southbound on the outside shoulder. 195 southbound.
09:47But the officers easily catch up and attempt another pit maneuver.
09:51This time...
09:55Another pit.
09:57They succeed.
09:59His information, he is armed.
10:03Get out of the car now! Put your f***ing hands up! Put your f***ing hands up!
10:08Subject on the ground. Going down. Stand by. Stand by.
10:12Porchesco is taken into custody as the nearly 70-mile chase finally comes to an end.
10:18He's booked into the Indian River County Jail and charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
10:24And the next day, Porchesco was charged with attempted first-degree murder for the attack on Dr. Colazzo.
10:31He pled not guilty and was held on $100,000 bond.
10:35Both of his cases are pending.
10:37If found guilty, he's facing 25 years to life in prison.
10:42As for the victim, Philip Colazzo, he suffered multiple serious injuries but has made a full recovery.
10:51Next, we go to Los Angeles, California, where LAPD officers are following this silver sedan
10:57after one of their automated license plate readers indicated that it might be stolen.
11:04717, something following a code 37 vehicle going eastbound on San Vicente approaching Olympic on a license plate.
11:11When the officers get confirmation the car is stolen, they call for backup.
11:16Requesting backup, airship and a supervisor.
11:19In the vicinity of San Vicente, he's requesting a backup air unit and a supervisor
11:23following a code 37 eastbound San Vicente approaching Olympic.
11:27Officers follow the car closely.
11:29But after their suspect rolls through this stop sign and makes a left turn,
11:36he takes off.
11:40Officers lose sight of the suspect for a few seconds after he makes this right turn.
11:47But after catching backup, they discover that the car has crashed into an oncoming vehicle.
12:00Hey, don't move.
12:04The officers order the suspect to stop.
12:08But he doesn't listen.
12:12Clear.
12:18Where'd he go?
12:19They chase him into a nearby backyard.
12:23But he hops a fence
12:26and disappears from view.
12:29He's heading eastbound to the house.
12:35To help pick up the suspect's scent, K-9 units are called to the scene as police alert neighbors to stay inside.
12:42We are searching for a suspect and are preparing to use a police dog.
12:46For your safety, please don't assign your home or business to a person or persons who are hiding from the police.
12:53Make your location known to us immediately.
12:55Put down all weapons.
12:57Come out with your hands raised.
12:59If you do not, a police dog will be used to find you.
13:02When the dog finds you, do not move or you may be bitten.
13:07It doesn't take the K-9 officer long to track the suspect to another backyard.
13:12Police move in and the dog is released.
13:26Hey! Let go of my dog!
13:28Let go of him!
13:30Let go of him!
13:32Let go of him!
13:34Let go!
13:36Let go!
13:39Let go of him!
13:41As the K-9 officer reaches the backyard, he encounters the suspect and does what he's been trained to do,
13:47as captured on this home security camera.
13:50The suspect tries to pull away, but a German Shepherd's clenched jaw can apply up to 238 pounds of pressure per square inch.
13:59Let go of him!
14:01Let go!
14:04Let go of him!
14:06Let go of him!
14:08Eventually, the K-9 officer releases him and it looks like it's the end of the road for this fugitive.
14:13Turn around! Turn around!
14:16But he's not done yet.
14:21Let go of him!
14:25He's over!
14:26And he escapes again.
14:31Hang tight! Hang tight! Hang tight!
14:32Shortly after, another K-9 unit tracks him down about a block away at a different house.
14:50Let go of him!
14:56Get down!

15:19There you go!
15:20The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Ian Jimenez.
15:24He was sent to the hospital and treated for dog bite wounds to his left forearm and right ankle.
15:30Later, Jimenez was charged with fleeing police, hit and run, and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent.
15:37He's yet to enter a plea and his case is pending.
15:40If found guilty of all charges, Jimenez could be facing up to ten and a half years in prison.
15:48Next, we're in Santa Fe, New Mexico,
15:51where county deputies are involved in the high-speed pursuit of a silver SUV driving recklessly on the highway.
16:00Earlier in the day, multiple drivers reported a woman throwing things out of her vehicle on Interstate 25.
16:06Deputy Robert Clark heard the report over dispatch, took position further north up the highway, and waited.
16:15Before long, when the vehicle sped by the deputy's cruiser, he pursued and then tried, unsuccessfully, to conduct a traffic stop.
16:25Now, a dangerous chase ensues as the suspect continues to drive erratically.
16:31Running a red light and hitting speeds of 100 miles an hour.
16:39Soon, the SUV speeds towards a busy intersection,
16:49where the driver collides with a pickup truck.
16:52As the suspect approaches the intersection, Deputy Clark's dash cam clearly shows that the light ahead is red.
17:00This black car makes it through safely, but this blue pickup isn't so lucky.
17:06The driver attempts to swerve out of the way, but it's too late.
17:10The truck slams into the passenger side of the suspect's vehicle, sending it flying across the intersection.
17:16With the suspect's vehicle now disabled, Deputy Clark slowly drives around the blue truck, assessing the crash scene,
17:25when, shockingly, the suspect is out of her vehicle, running toward it, completely naked.
17:36The suspect is out of her vehicle, running toward it, completely naked.
17:49Another deputy, who's just arrived on the scene, joins Clark in the foot pursuit, and they quickly corral the suspect.
18:05Deputies eventually stop and handcuff the driver, 51-year-old Barbara Arellano.
18:11Arellano, who already has a DWI conviction on her record, continues to act out,
18:17so deputies try to calm her by wrapping her body in a blue tarp.
18:29Arellano has somehow slipped out of one of her handcuffs.
18:36Give me your hand. Give me your hand. Give me your hand.
18:41Give me your hand.
18:44Give me your hand. I'm going to tase you. I'm going to tase you. Give me your hand.
18:54Arellano's handcuff is reapplied, and she's moved to the back of a deputy's vehicle.
18:59Meanwhile, traffic at the busy intersection has come to a standstill, as officers check on the driver in the blue truck.
19:13As officers work to get traffic moving again, deputies question Arellano.
19:18I'll get you some water.
19:23Hey, don't spit. Don't spit.
19:25After Arellano spits at the deputy, she's put in a spit mask before being arrested.
19:31Based on everything, I have reason to believe that you're under the influence. You're under arrest for DWI.
19:37Arellano was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated,
19:41aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, and battery of a peace officer for the spitting.
19:49She was released on $5,000 bond, pled guilty to aggravated DWI and aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer,
19:57and was sentenced to two years probation.
19:59Arellano also lost her driver's license for a year.
20:02The driver of the blue truck was unharmed in the crash.
