00:00Hey it's the 15th of October 2023 and the cruise ship Altania is in Plymouth.
00:12The MB Altania is a cruise ship chartered since 2011 by Phoenix Raisin.
00:17She was built by Princess Cruises by Rothsdale at Helsinki Shipyard in Finland.
00:24She cost 165 million US dollars to build and she was built in 1984 and her flag state is
00:31the Bahamas.
00:33Welcome to Plymouth, the Ocean City.

02:22Plymouth Sound where your boat is moored is a National Marine Park.
02:25When you get off your tent during Plymouth Barbican you'll be near the Mayflower Steps

03:15If you stay in Plymouth don't forget to check out Plymouth Ho which means High Ground.
03:19Sweden's Tower at the top of the Ho was relocated from the old Edison Lighthouse.
03:24You can take a trip up to the top of it and see the panoramic views all the way around.
03:29Looking south to the Edison Lighthouse and looking north towards Dartmoor.
03:32You can catch the 25 bus sightseeing tour around the Ho and Barbican which takes about
03:3725 minutes.
03:38On Plymouth Ho you can find the controversial statue to the villain and pirate St Francis
03:44Drake and another monument to Lady Astor who was the first female MP in London.
03:49On West Ho Pier there is also a sculpture by Anthony Gormley, Look 2, which has been
03:54there for about 4 years.
03:56If you go to West Ho you can dine at several places including Pier 1.
04:01Plymouth used to have a pier on West Ho which was blown away in the Second World War.
04:07Plymouth Mill Bay is the home to Princess Yachts International, the luxury yachts for
04:11millionaires playgrounds.
04:14You can find them in Morocco and across the world.
04:22For upmarket dining and fishing go to the Royal William Yard which is in Stonehouse.
04:28The Royal William Yard used to be a victualising yard for the Royal Navy in Stonehouse and
04:33it is now an upmarket area of the city.
04:38One of the thought provoking statues in Devonport is the monument to Robert Falcon Scott who
04:43perished 100 years ago on his fateful trip to the Arctic.
04:47With thought provoking inscriptions from his diaries about taking risks and being prepared
04:53to suffer the consequences.
04:58Charles Darwin sailed from Plymouth Sound to discover the origins of the species after
05:03a scientific survey.
05:05He spent three months in Plymouth preparing for his voyage.
05:09The Arabia is based at Mountbatten as a corporal in the Royal Australian Air Force.
05:14Sir Tony Shackleton set off from Mill Bay docks on the 8th of August 1914 on insurance
05:19of the start of the Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914-1916.
05:25A recent addition to Plymouth history is the box which looks at international and local
05:30as well as Plymouth life and culture which also has a big archaeological collection.
05:36And the old St Luke's Church which is now an annex to the box just across from the box
05:40right in the centre of Plymouth.
05:42Across from the box at the University of Plymouth you've got the Roland Levinsky building which
05:47holds the Arts Institute's artwork with ongoing exhibitions.
05:53Charles Church was bombed in the Second World War.
05:55It was built in 1640 and it remains a monument to those lost during the Second World War
06:02and creates a great landmark for the city of Plymouth with Drake Circus in the background.
06:06We're nearly at the end of this tour so don't forget to check out Drake Circus shopping
06:10mall with upmarket shops from all over the world.
06:13And last but not least we're back in the Barbican and looking at the National Marine
06:17Aquarium which is just across from Mayflower Steps.
