00:00Hi, welcome back to my channel, in this video, I will explain the ending of Spirited, so,
00:05let's begin.
00:07Spirited is a 2022 drama family film directed by Sean Anders, spoilers for the film's ending
00:12follow.
00:13Spirited movie is all about redeeming oneself.
00:16Each year, the afterlife world chooses one perpetrator and transforms that person into
00:20a better version of themselves.
00:23The process is a collaborative work of the ghost of Christmas past, present, and yet
00:27to come.
00:28They take the perps on a journey and show them how their past had influenced them to
00:32become the person they were and how their wrongful behavior, affected those around them
00:35in the present and how the future could be catastrophic if they don't change themselves.
00:40Behind the entire process works a team of spirits who plan the entire ordeal that ultimately
00:45leads to their success.
00:47They selected those people whose change in behavior could create ripples all over the
00:51world.
00:52While they plan to change an abusive, self-centered manager, present believed that Clint Briggs
00:56was the ideal candidate.
00:58He was not just a self-obsessed, profit-making machine but also highly influential.
01:03While present thought changing him could create ripples, his file stated that he was unredeemable.
01:09No one believed that changing Clint was a possibility, but present was not ready to
01:12give up on him.
01:14Who was present?
01:16Why did he choose not to retire?
01:18To show how redemption was possible for someone who seemed unredeemable, present showed Clint
01:22his past.
01:24Present was alive two centuries ago.
01:27He was the infamous Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens' novella, A Christmas Carol.
01:32He was a despicable miser who ill-treated people and hated Christmas.
01:36He was visited by Marley's ghost, who asked him to either redeem himself or be prepared
01:41to be trapped in heavy chains in his afterlife.
01:43He, too, was considered unredeemable, just like Clint, but in the end, he did become
01:49a changed man.
01:50This was the reason why present could not accept that Clint was unredeemable—he believed
01:54that no matter what, a man could be changed.
01:58After learning about his past, Clint asked him if he truly remained a changed man all
02:02his life, and present agreed.
02:04But the catch was that he only survived for three and a half weeks after his transformation.
02:09Therefore, present, aka Scrooge, did not know for sure if he truly was a good man.
02:15He feared becoming the person he used to be, and that was the reason he never retired to
02:18go back to Earth and live a mortal life.
02:21Clint helped present realize how he needed to take a chance and live the life he deserved
02:25instead of fearing the worst.
02:27Present was in love with Kimberly, and that was the reason why she could see him.
02:31With the support of Clint and Marley, he finally accepted his retirement and decided to pursue
02:36his love for her in the mortal world.
02:38Was Clint redeemed finally?
02:41Present showed Clint how his colleagues and friends thought less of him, but his brother,
02:44Owen, stood up for him.
02:47He explained how Clint was alone most of his childhood which was why he could not trust
02:50anyone else but himself.
02:53Present forced Clint to revisit a memory he always ran from.
02:56It was when Carrie was admitted to a hospital, and she knew that her days were numbered.
03:01She requested that Clint take care of Wren after her death, but Clint rejected her request.
03:06He stated that he was too selfish to be a father, and even though Carrie believed there
03:10was some good in him, he proved that day that he cared about no one else but himself.
03:15Clint felt guilty about not taking Wren's responsibility that day, which is why he never
03:19revisited that memory.
03:21Now that Wren asked him for guidance to win the student council presidential election,
03:25he taught her to be selfish and evil.
03:27When Josh Hubbins uploaded a picture of him serving food to the homeless, Wren felt an
03:31instant need to destroy his image.
03:34She uploaded a video of him in which he criticized the homeless people, and he was instantly
03:38cancelled on social media.
03:40Josh Hubbins uploaded that video a long time ago, and he deleted it as well.
03:45He was a child, and whatever he did was out of immaturity.
03:48For the first time, Clint experienced inner turmoil.
03:52He tried to justify himself, but at the same time, he realized that what the kid had to
03:56go through was not what he deserved.
03:58After present left, the ghost of Christmas yet to come visited Clint.
04:03The grim reaper-looking ghost showed how the video uploaded by Wren could destroy Josh's
04:07life.
04:08In the future, Josh committed suicide, and there was no way for Wren to correct her mistake.
04:13After returning to reality, Clint hurried to stop Wren from publishing the video.
04:19But as it turned out, Kimberly had discussed with Wren how her choices made her who she
04:22was.
04:23Therefore, Wren chose not to upload the video and instead fought the election fair and square.
04:28The fact that Clint ran to stop Wren from making a mistake that could ruin one's life
04:32showed that Clint was no longer self-centered, he had started to care about others.
04:37But he was not yet declared redeemed by the spirits.
04:40Present was upset that Clint had not been declared a changed man, and he decided to
04:44give up on his mortal life to go back and understand what went wrong.
04:49But for Clint, the friendship he developed with Present was all that mattered.
04:52Clint asked Present to enjoy his life and relationship with Kimberly, but for Present,
04:56his friend's redemption meant everything, and for that, he was ready to die.
05:01A bus was about to hit Present as he stood in the middle of the road, but Clint ran to
05:04save his life.
05:06He chose to put his life in danger and made the ultimate sacrifice to protect his friend.
05:11This was an act of pure redemption.
05:14He was finally declared redeemed, but at the cost of his life.
05:18Though all was not lost in the end, Clint was reunited with his sister, who expressed
05:22how proud she was of him.
05:24After failing her once, he was glad to have her by his side.
05:28She held his hand and calmed him down as he walked into the afterlife.
05:32Clint became a part of the spirit world.
05:34He headed the Christmas haunt planning and modernized the setup.
05:38He also seemed to have developed a romantic relationship with the ghost of Christmas past.
05:43Meanwhile, Present lived his dream life with Kimberly.
05:46They had two children now, just like he had always imagined.
05:50Clint continued to visit them time and again and sought his help when the cases seemed
05:54difficult.
05:56Spirited ends with Clint showing the file of a woman to Present, and they figure out
05:59that her romantic life negatively affected her.
06:03The new case could be indicative of a second part.
06:06Spirited is a comedy musical that you can watch with your family for a good laugh.
06:11That's all for now folks.
