00:00What will win in a drag race between the new Tesla Cybertruck and a Lamborghini Urus?
00:04Well, I'm going to find out by racing them over the standing quarter mile.
00:08And it's not just any quarter mile.
00:09It's actually a new road that's just been built at Tesla's Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
00:14In fact, it's still being built.
00:16There's like construction going off just over there.
00:19There's a steamroller.
00:20I wonder if I'm going to steamroller that Lamborghini Urus.
00:23We're going to find out.
00:24I'm Matt Watson, and you're watching Car Wow.
00:30Anyway, let me tell you about the Cybertruck.
00:32There's three versions available.
00:33There's a rear motor version, a dual motor version, which has a motor on each axle.
00:37Then this range topping tri-motor version, which is nicknamed the Cyber Beast.
00:42It has one motor on the front axle and two on the rear.
00:45Combined, they put out 845 horsepower and 930 newton meters of torque.
00:51This car has quite a large battery pack.
00:53It's over 120 kilowatt hours.
00:55As a result, it's quite a heavy thing, this.
00:58It weighs in at 3,080 kilos.
01:01In terms of price, well, the rear motor version starts from $50,000.
01:04This range topping one starts from $96,000.
01:08Though it's actually quite inexpensive when you compare it to the price of that Lamborghini Urus.
01:12And let's find out about that car from its driver.
01:15Samuel, aka Racing Driver Sam, how are you?
01:19I'm very good.
01:20I'm a bit nervous.
01:21Do you want to swap sides?
01:22I don't think I can win this impending battle.
01:26With this big, scary bulldozer.
01:28Come on, give us the stats on your car.
01:30Well, I think we all know this.
01:31This is the Urus Lamborghini.
01:324-litre twin-turbo V8, 650 horsepower, 850 newton meters of torque.
01:37Drives all four wheels.
01:38Gearbox is an 8-speed torque converter.
01:40It only weighs 2.1 tonnes.
01:42Do you know what I'm going to do?
01:42I'm going to flash up on the screen right now the stats of the cars,
01:45so you can just compare them side by side.
01:47These cars are actually very closely matched on the quarter mile.
01:50So it's going to be really, really interesting to see which one wins.
01:52What's your money on?
01:54I think I have no hope off the line.
01:56And I think the first 50 metres, I'm going to be screwed.
01:59But I think you're going to run out of puff.
02:00And I think it's going to be pretty close at the end of that quarter.
02:03Now, my car does have a limited top speed of 130 miles an hour.
02:06I'm not sure that's going to come into play of the quarter mile.
02:08But your car's top speed is quite a lot higher.
02:11It's like 170, 180.
02:12We'll flash it up on the screen right now, so you know.
02:15Right, before we race, though, let's just do the customary CarWise sound check.
02:18Rev up your 4-litre V8.
02:24That is a solid win.
02:28Yes, it is.
02:31This can make various noises.
02:33Let's see if I can make it do something.
02:40Let's try a different one.
02:41My favourite of all of them.
02:48Did you do a little windy pop before that horn?
02:50Yeah, Elon likes his farty noises.
02:53Anyway, regardless, you won that.
02:55Yes, I did.
02:56One for the petrol.
02:57One for the petrol.
02:58Right, let's see if we can claw one back for the EV brigade.
03:02Let's do a drag race.
03:03Let's do a drag race.
03:04Let's do a drag race.
03:04Let's do a drag race.
03:06Let's all do a drag race.
03:08I'm not talking to anyone.
03:09I've just gone mad.
03:10Engaging cheater stance.
03:14Three, two, one.
03:18He's done.
03:23Oh my God.
03:26Absolutely dropped.
03:35That was on it.
03:41Nah, mate, nah.
03:43Yeah, wow.
03:45It wasn't the best launch it's ever done,
03:48but that really puts that in perspective, doesn't it?
03:50Because this is not a slow quarter mile.
03:52And did it launch good for you?
03:53Because sometimes I know the Urus can like bog down.
03:56Sometimes it takes off.
03:59And then gets going again.
04:00Didn't have one of its terrible boggy ones,
04:02but there was absolutely no wheel spin.
04:05It was a little bit boggy.
04:06I'd like another go.
04:07Mate, you can have all the goes in the world.
04:09Three, two, one.
04:13Oh, he had a better start that time.
04:15Mine was a bit squirrelly.
04:20Oh my God.
04:23Just keep on dropping it.
04:33Wow.
04:38I can't really see what your expression is
04:40because your windows are blacked out.
04:42Are you happy with that one?
04:43Yeah, do you know what?
04:44That was a good launch, but...
04:47Oh my God.
04:48That defies physics and logic, doesn't it?
04:51So was that a much better launch than last time?
04:53Oh yeah, yeah.
04:54Much, much better.
04:54Still absolutely no wheel spin here.
04:56I don't know whether it's the surface or something.
04:58It's irrelevant.
04:58Even if this had a perfect little bit of slip and kept going,
05:01that's just going to beat me by a little bit less, maybe.
05:04I don't know what to say, really.
05:05Do you want to have a go in this?
05:06Yes, please.
05:08Here we go.
05:12Three, two, one.
05:22Oh, I think I might have had him off the line.
05:26He was napping a bit.
05:32Flipping hell.
05:36Nah, chance.
05:42I think I might have had you off the line there, Sam.
05:44Yeah, you beat me off the line.
05:45Well done.
05:46Who won the race?
05:47I didn't win the race.
05:48I didn't win the race.
05:49Let me just check something.
05:50Stewards, can you just check I didn't jump the start?
05:52Matt, this is Rory.
05:53You didn't jump the start.
05:54I watched.
05:55I just want to have one more go in this, just to make the point.
05:58Why not?
06:00Three, two, one.
06:18Wow.
06:20I'll tell you what, Sam.
06:27When I drove the Urus, it didn't do any of the silliness.
06:31It launched really well.
06:32I quite liked it.
06:33Was it a good launch then for you?
06:34We left pretty much simultaneously.
06:35Yeah, I can't fault this launch.
06:37Maybe the American ones are better.
06:38It hasn't had any problems.
06:40That's just, I mean, it's ridiculous.
06:42It is ridiculous.
06:43Now, here are the times.
06:45So then what exactly happened?
06:47Well, the Tesla won.
06:48It completed the standing quarter mile in 11.2 seconds.
06:52The Lamborghini took 12.3 seconds.
06:56That's quite a bit slower than we've had from a Lamborghini Urus before.
06:59In the past, we've measured it at 11.5 seconds.
07:03Now we have a rolling race from 30 miles an hour.
07:06First to the quarter mile wins.
07:08So get level, young man.
07:10Three, two, one, go.
07:18I think I was just mental.
07:35Yeah, pointless.
07:36That's just ridiculous.
07:37What we're going to do now is another rolling race,
07:40but this time I'm going to go from 40 miles an hour.
07:42And Sam, you're going to go in second gear.
07:44See if that helps at all.
07:46OK, come on then.
07:46Let's go up to 40.
07:47Get level.
07:4740, 40, 40, 40, 40.
07:49I'm at 40 pretty much.
07:50Here we go.
07:51Three, two, one, go.
07:56No.
08:03Dropped.
08:11No, you got dropped.
08:12You're with me for a split second and then bye-bye.
08:15But it was with you for a split second.
08:17I have to take a little win from this.
08:19OK, I've got another idea, though.
08:20Let's head back to the start.
08:21OK, Sam, let's do the same thing again.
08:23However, this time I'm going to count it in.
08:26I'll go three, two, one, go.
08:28You can go on the number two.
08:30Yeah, I like cheating.
08:32Let's do that.
08:33Right, come on.
08:33Good luck.
08:34Get yourself level.
08:35Let's get to 40.
08:36Three, two, one, go.
08:41Come on.
08:44Come on.
08:47Come on.
08:51Yes.
08:52No.
09:03I don't think I really have much else to say.
09:05Yeah, I mean, I think that's a worse defeat than any of the other ones.
09:11Well, there you go.
09:12One last challenge.
09:13I might not win this one.
09:14OK, now we're going to have a brake test from 70 miles an hour.
09:17The car that stops in the shortest distance wins.
09:20I'm going to move myself closer to the brake pedal for added force.
09:24Come on then, young man.
09:26Get level.
09:2670 miles an hour.
09:27Here comes the line.
09:38OK, here are my excuses.
09:40I'm on mud tyres.
09:42You're on hardcore performance summer tyres.
09:45Sorry, I was yawning so loud.
09:48I can't.
09:48Are you?
09:49Are you in the distance?
09:50I'm struggling.
09:51Hold on.
09:51Oh, I can see you.
09:53Yeah, no, I think I won that.
09:54Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the video.
09:56If you did, give it a like.
09:58Let me know what you think of this Cybertruck in the comments below.
10:00Do you like the look of it or not?
