00:00The opening of malls in Metro Manila will be done later

00:04to reduce the traffic in EDSA and other main roads.

00:08Road projects will also be suspended here as Christmas approaches.

00:18As the Bear Month is just around the corner,

00:20the number of vehicles traveling in EDSA is increasing

00:23according to the MMDA data.

00:25If your average speed is 20 to 21 kilometers per hour,

00:29it's only 19 kph in the northbound and 18.13 kph in the southbound.

00:35If you will travel here in EDSA,

00:37your speed will be slower by 1 kilometer per hour.

00:42According to the MMDA,

00:43this is the effect of the early Christmas rush

00:45that you will feel and experience.

00:49Normally, we reach almost half a mil

00:52during the approaching Christmas season.

00:55We expect that before dusk, it will be heavy.

00:59Then after dusk, it will be straight until Christmas time.

01:04The malls agreed that from November 18 to December 25,

01:08instead of opening at 10 a.m.,

01:10they will open at 11 a.m.

01:13But the malls will make a decision on what time they will close.

01:18The Christmas mall wide sale should be held earlier than November 18.

01:24We are supporting whatever MMDA is requesting from us.

01:29Most likely, the bonuses are released before November 18.

01:35All of our sales are prior to December.

01:41We are recognizing as well that the bonuses are released prior to November 18.

01:47We are going to follow the request of our MMDA

01:50regarding this holiday season to ease the congestion in EDSA.

01:56The MMDA also plans to write to the Department of Transportation

01:59to extend the hours of LRT and MRT.

02:03According to the MMDA,

02:04all roads will be suspended in Metro Manila

02:08from November 18 to December 25.

02:12This includes road reblocking, pipelining, and road upgrading.

02:16Traffic can also be obstructed.

02:18But this does not include the suspension of government flagship projects

02:22such as the construction of DPWH bridges and emergency leak repair.
