Five killed in M6 crash in Cumbria, including two children

Five people, including two children, have tragically died in a horror crash on the M6.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the M6 northbound near Tebay Services shortly after 4pm yesterday.

Cumbria Police said the fatal collision involved two vehicles – a Skoda and a Toyota. The driver of the Skoda, a man from Cambridgeshire was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A family from Glasgow travelling in the Toyota - a man driving the car, a woman and two children, also died at the scene.

00:04We have some very sad news confirmed by police in Cumbria today.
00:08It records a crash on the M6 near Teabay services around 4pm yesterday.
00:13Sadly, police have now confirmed that five people have died, including two children.
00:18Emergency services were called to the scene on the M6 northbound near Teabay services at around 4pm yesterday.
00:27The collision involved two vehicles, a Skoda and a Toyota.
00:31The driver of the Skoda is a man from Cambridgeshire and he was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
00:37A family from Glasgow were travelling in the Toyota and sadly the man, a woman and two children were also pronounced dead at the scene.
00:46A third child in the Toyota was taken to hospital in Newcastle with serious injuries and remains in very serious condition.
00:56Cumbria Police said the families of those involved are currently being supported by specially trained officers
01:02and the M6 northbound fully reopened in the early hours of this morning.
