Govt: We will not be raising taxes on working people

Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Darren Jones, reassures working people that their taxes will not be raised as the rate of inflation falls below 2% for the first time in three and a half years.

00:00Well look it's good news for family finances that inflation has fallen below two percent
00:05but of course there's more work to be done to protect working people and bring stability and
00:08growth back to the economy which is what the Chancellor and this government is doing.
00:12Well all tax changes will be announced by the Chancellor at the Budget to Parliament
00:15on the 30th of October but as the Prime Minister and Chancellor have been very clear we will not
00:20be raising taxes on working people so that we will not be increasing income tax, national
00:24insurance or VAT on working people. We will honour that promise.
