Today we finally get a devblog looking at 2 new American SPAA vehicles, 1 being the brand new T77E1 and the other being the existing Skink that is already in the British Tech Tree!

So join me as we take a look at the new T77E1 and also discuss some other American SPAA vehicles that could be added, such as the T100, T85E1 and more!

00:00So today we've been given some news that I've been looking forward to for quite some time,
00:04and that's the news that America is getting two new anti-air vehicles. The T-77E1,
00:10which is a completely new vehicle coming into the American tech tree at rank 2,
00:15and the Skink, which is currently in the British tech tree at rank 4, battle rating 5.3.
00:22So the reason I'm excited for this news is because at the moment the American anti-air
00:27line is not exactly in a very good place. Now granted it's very good up until the M16 at rank
00:332 2.7, but after that you get two vehicles armed with twin 40mm cannons at rank 3. And these aren't
00:41necessarily the most effective anti-air weapons, but if you don't like them you're basically
00:46stuffed until rank 5. There's no American anti-air vehicles at rank 4, you have to wait until you get
00:51the M163 at 7.7. So at bare minimum there's a 3.7 battle rating gap, and if you don't like the
00:59M19 and M42 you've got a 5.0 gap. So the news that America is getting all these new self-propelled
01:06anti-aircraft vehicles, plus the announcement that future ones will be added to the American tech
01:10tree, is a rather welcome addition for me. So we're going to take a quick look at the T-77E1,
01:17so like I said this is going to be coming in at rank 2, and it's based on the M24 Chaffee chassis.
01:24But the turret is now fitted with six 50 cal machine guns, and the turret is very quick to
01:29traverse. It's got 65 degree traverse speed, and it can aim up to 85 degrees vertically, so very
01:36good for targeting enemy aircraft. The turret itself is less armoured, it's only 12.7mm thick,
01:43and you can see that the gunner and commander don't actually fit entirely in the turret, and
01:48instead they've got this plexiglass arrangement to protect them, and well, it's glass, it's not
01:53going to protect them very well. But we are told that the commander and the gunner can, you know,
01:58fire the guns, so if one's knocked out the other can take over firing of the weapons, which is
02:04quite good. So yeah, this will probably come between the M16 and the M19, so between 2.7 and
02:124.0, and I think this will be an excellent anti-air vehicle. It's not going to be very
02:17good against enemy ground forces, but again, it's a self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle,
02:21it's not supposed to be. But yeah, this is definitely one of the American vehicles I've
02:26been looking forward to for a very long time, and of course with the Skink being added,
02:30that will fill in the rank 4 gap quite nicely as well. So it looks like America's getting some
02:35very good anti-air vehicles out of this update, and like I mentioned at the beginning, we are
02:40told that more American anti-air vehicles are going to be added in the future, so I have done
02:45a video looking at some of these vehicles. So you've got the T85 which has four 20mm cannons,
02:51you've got the T100 which has four 60 cal machine guns and a radar, so that'll be quite interesting
02:58to have. There's a Sherman variant with a 40mm Bofors and a couple of Browning machine guns.
03:04There's a 75mm cannon mounted to the M19 chassis, which I think can fire some ridiculous amount of
03:10shells, something like 45 shells in a minute, so that would be very good if fitted with HEVT shells.
03:15You've got the Vigilante, and I'm sure there's a whole bunch of other vehicles. In my series
03:19looking at American interwar tanks, there's even some vehicles that could be added at 1.0, just
03:24some basic trucks with a single machine gun, because of course the American anti-air lineup
03:29doesn't actually start until 1.7, so putting one of them at 1.0 would be very effective as well.
03:36And yeah, like I say, this is a very good start to the dev blog series for me,
03:40and I'm looking forward to seeing some more of the American anti-air vehicles being added in
03:45the future. Anyway, just a quick video for today, hopefully you've enjoyed it,
03:49hopefully you'll join me for the next one. I've been Tyranno, and I'll see you next time.
