00:00Hello and welcome to Salford Community Stadium where we are kicking off Derby weekend of
00:20the Gallagher Premiership here on TNT Sports and up first it's Sail Sharks hosting the
00:26Newcastle Falcons. Let's get to it shall we with Austin Healey, Ben Kay and Jimmy Lyle.
00:33It is time for the great rivalries to be rekindled, the grudges stopped
00:37and fresh chapters written in the rich history of England's storied old beasts.
00:42It all begins here under the glade of the floodlights in Salford. For the first time
00:47in a long time, Alex Anderson can uncage most of his biggest bruisers for Premiership duty.
00:52Two servings of curry in the back row with both twins Tom and Ben back from respective
00:56head injuries. Jean-Luc Dupri was due to play but a flare-up of some concussion symptoms
01:01has put pain to that. His twin brother Dan poised for a first outing since January from the bench.
01:07Still no Raffy Cork or George Ford but the Sharks backline purred beautifully against Gloucester last
01:12week. Sam Bedlow provided the ballast, Aaron Reid the freakish defensive heroics and Tom Robuck the
01:18killer touch in the wide channels. A 50th outing for bright young talent Joe Carpenter who really
01:24has owned that 15 jersey. Newcastle Falcons not quite at full strength for this trip down the A1.
01:31First choice centres Sammy Arnold and Connor Doherty missing tonight, the latter unable to
01:35play against his parent club. Ollie Spencer and Kammy Hutchison form a fresh midfield pairing
01:40outside Ethan Grayson but the big news for Steve Diamond, the return of Adam Radwan from a head
01:45injury. How we hope to see a tasty foot race between him and Aaron Reid and Pedro Rubiolo back
01:50from the rugby championship after helping Argentina carve out a seminal campaign. On the bench Jack
01:56Metcalf wants to sail shark, he's poised for his Newcastle debut in the latter stages. Callum Chick
02:02hit 150 Falcons matches last weekend.
02:08And the return to Manchester too for experienced former elite scrum math Carl Dixon. He'll be
02:14walking the refereeing beat tonight having returned recently from the rugby championship
02:19and some tasty international affairs. No great geographical proximity between these two,
02:27nearly 150 miles of motorway tarmac separate them but they are united in their fierce pride
02:34at being the northernmost clubs in England's top flights. Premiership points on the stake
02:40and the king of the north title too. Gus Waugh running down a blind alley early on
02:50played rugby just about everywhere professional rugby's played England, France, Japan, South Africa
02:56take most on the rugby players bucket list.
02:59Sell kicking more outside their own 22, any other team in the league so far. Gus Waugh providing
03:05most of them, these contestable box kicks for Aaron Reid and Tom Robuck to burn after.
03:12First assured touch for Obata Yungo, try scorer last time Newcastle won a game
03:16all those months, 19 months ago against Gloucester at Kingston Park.
03:22Grayson shoveling it on to the back of the net,
03:25Hutchison, Scotsman runs it straight, Chick, you see the difference in how Newcastle are
03:33trying to attack, they went wide against Leicester, didn't punch many holes, didn't find many soft
03:39shoulders, got a baby of 17 options from phase play such as this, they've reduced that down to
03:45far too few, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space,
03:52they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a
03:55lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space,
03:57they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a

04:05they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a
04:07lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they
04:37they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot

12:52lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a lot of space, they've got a
12:58lot of space.
13:22Teed up by magnificence from Joel Carpenter, Reid's got himself a double.
13:28Oh fantastic from Carpenter on his 50th. A little bit of backspin on the ball as he
13:36drops it onto his toe. Just means that it dies and sits up perfectly for him, looks
13:42like it's going to be the full backs but he just continues to accelerate and then as he
13:46pirouettes out of the tackle to have the wherewithal to drop the ball over the top of the head
13:51of the next defender. Just watch this for an offload. Spin over Radwan's head, perfectly
13:59weighted and then Reid just uses that fear from Radwan that he might get done on the
14:05outside to step back inside and then he's always going to have the momentum regardless
14:10of who's quicker between them.
14:22What was really nice for me about that was Carpenter's kick. It wasn't the best kick
14:25he's ever done, not the best he's ever seen but he actually chases it so hard and commits
14:29to this 50-50. He gets through that, takes it but then this double step, look, right
14:34foot first, left foot and then he turns with acceleration like you said Ben. Radwan's worried
14:38that he's going to go to the outside so he takes one step further and allows that inside
14:43shoulder to open up. That is a brilliant finish, 1-0 Reid over Radwan.
14:48Sale again, camped on Newcastle's front lawn and this mall is on roller skates so far.
14:55Crabbing their way infield, Cowan Dickey, did he ground it?
15:01If Callum Chicks held that up, he needs some medals.
15:18I thought it was 8 so let's just take a look.
15:23Double jeopardy, if it's a yellow card and you can identify who the offence was by, it's
15:29an automatic, so if it's a penalty try you have to give a yellow card if you can identify
15:33the culprit.
15:36I think that's harsh because I don't know whether Chick is over the line at that stage
15:39in which case he can collapse.
15:42If his feet are over the line, he's over the line, I think he's OK.
15:56I think his right foot is over the goal line and therefore he's in goal so he can collapse.
16:01Because you're right Austin as well, he actually ends up on the ball so he doesn't agree with it.
16:10Let's look at his right foot now.
16:12That's Gordon, Chicks there, now he rolls. It's tight, it is tight.
16:22Here's Curtis, across the face to Bedlaw who throws the dummy and then looks for offloads.
16:28Such a physical, abrasive centre Sam Bedlaw.
16:32He was let go from the academy here at Sale, went to Bristol then came back again.
16:36Ben Curry, globetrotter stuck for war, where's that going?
16:39Rubiolo knocks it over his own line and Hutchinson has to touch it down.
16:43It will be a scrum five to Sale.
16:47He carried it over really good from Curry to spot.
16:51I think it was Hutchinson that had just had to move out of the ruck so no one in front
16:55of him, he goes, gets the ball away to Waugh.
16:59That's the clear out on Hutchinson which takes him away which means Curry can go straight
17:03through the middle, hardest place to defend a break from is banged through the middle
17:07of a ruck and that means Waugh, that goes straight rather than off the side of his boot.
17:11I think he's running onto that but Rubiolo comes over and does enough.
17:15Hutchinson gets back but unfortunately for the Falcons, slides over the five so Gus Waugh
17:21will get another opportunity to stick the ball in at the scrum.
17:26Yes!
17:32What are you looking at here Ben, what kind of an attacking ploy would you have up your
17:36sleeve?
17:37Do you go for them at scrum time or do you try and use an extra man?
17:39First off, yes, partly because even if you don't get them going to get that right shoulder
17:44up, get Harper up on your tight head side, take the back row away and Curry can potentially
17:48break.
17:50They've won the penalty, they've got a free shot so he'll flick it up and they'll play.
17:53Waugh to Addison, punching straight through the middle, that's the bonus points and fittingly
18:00it's one of Sale's longest serving players who brings it up.
18:05Will Addison the try scorer?
18:07Sale cruising.
18:09It's a really tight attack from Sale and it's just about flat decoy runners, not a particularly
18:15complicated move, just that flat decoy runner and then the ball in behind.
18:21So get that first defender to step on the decoy and then actually as the player tries
18:26to get back out he bumps into another Sale player and that just gives Addison enough
18:31momentum to get himself over the line.
18:40Left Sale a few years ago to chase his dream of playing for Ireland, will Addison achieve
18:44that?
18:45He played for Ulster, won his Ireland caps.
18:48Alex Anderson has brought him home.
18:53Dupreere knocks over the extras, 28 points to 3.
18:59It's a good shot there but you just see Hutchinson there just catching the Sale player on the
19:07decoy line.
19:10Just puts him off momentarily and that means that when he gets there to make the tackle
19:16Addison's got all the momentum.
19:19Yeah I'm just re-emphasising what you've said Benny, it's a simple overs play.
19:23You've got Bedlover and Hutchinson there and all he does is catch his inside shoulder but
19:27to be fair the outside defender should really step in a little bit earlier.
19:32It's not really his man, he's just got to be there to help and unfortunately he wasn't
19:37well executed try from Sale from another entry into the red zone.
19:46Louis Brown, he's got his first Newcastle try on this venue last season.
19:51The Falcons were much more competitive that evening than it has proven tonight so far.
20:01This is concerning isn't it if you're a Falcons fan.
20:04What we saw last week was a Leicester Tigers team playing at 50-60% of their capacity and
20:10we've seen exactly the same tonight.
20:11Sale haven't been at their best but they haven't had to be.
20:14Space is just offered to them, opportunity on the gain line.
20:17Defensively the first fix for Steve Diamond has to be to tighten up that defence and make
20:22sure people aren't giving easy line breaks which is what they've done all evening so far.
20:27It's near the game Steve Diamond has taken personal responsibility for as well.
20:31Scott Baldwin last season's defence coach departed the club over summer and Steve Diamond
20:36took on that particular coaching role.
20:43And as he chows down on whatever it was he was masticating over in there.
20:48One of those toffees you can't get rid of.
20:50A gobstopper by the looks of things.
20:53A couple of minutes left in the first half.
20:56Sale utterly dominant and Ben Bamber has got his Anaconda like arms through the middle of that
21:02and made life awful for the Newcastle pack.
21:09Anaconda's got arms?
21:12I'm not sure they do.
21:15Evolutionary biology is not my strong point.
21:17Stop using that nickname.
21:24Have they got legs?
21:26Anyway 28-3, sale Newcastle.
21:31Newcastle being suffocated much like an Anaconda.
21:35Yeah there you go.
21:38Right no more animal analogies for the rest of this one.
21:41Bring Chick back on then.
21:43Aside from defence Oz, we've switched our attentions from animals back to rugby.
21:47What practical steps can Newcastle take to prove more of a threat?
21:51They've had a lot of ball, they've not done much with it.
21:54I think simply what Steve Diamond's been trying to do is play a wrap game.
21:58A bit of a dribble, a bit of a flick.
22:00A bit of a dribble.
22:02A bit of a flick.
22:04A bit of a dribble.
22:06A bit of a flick.
22:07A bit of a dribble.
22:09A bit of a flick.
22:11A bit of a dribble.
22:13A bit of a flick.
22:15A bit of a dribble.
22:17A bit of a flick.
22:19A bit of a dribble.
22:21A bit of a flick.
22:23A bit of a dribble.
22:25A bit of a flick.
22:27A bit of a flick.
22:29A bit of a flick.
22:31A bit of a flick.
22:33A bit of a flick.
22:35A bit of a flick.
22:37No, 50-22.
23:08Let's head straight down pitch side, shall we?
23:11Because the Sail Sharks director of rugby, Al Sanderson,
23:14has joined us fresh out of the sheds.
23:16Al, fuel back the curtain in that sail change, if you will.
23:19What happened at halftime?
23:21What were the key messages?
23:24You don't want to go in all singing or dancing
23:28because of some of the outcomes that we've had in the first half.
23:32We're really happy with certain aspects of the game.
23:34We just try to simplify it in terms of the decision-making
23:37around the middle of the field,
23:39making sure that we keep making good decisions
23:42just because we're looking like we're attacking well.
23:45And the possibility of them running more.
23:47I thought they would run more in that first half.
23:49So we're trying to limit their running game,
23:51bring them to the fight in terms of contestable kicks,
23:54keep them within the 15s and keep the ball out of the hands
23:57of some of their real X-factor players in the wide channels.
24:00And then put to them what can they do.
24:02And then put to them what kind of team they want to be.
24:06Too often you can go in 25 points up
24:11and just let another team back in.
24:14And we talked about being ruthless with it this second half.
24:17So I live up to the words.
24:19Well, you've got Paul's on board just now, Alex.
24:22Talk us through this. What do you want to see here?
24:24A try. It'd be nice.
24:26How's it going to happen?
24:28It's about keeping ball quick, as we have done in that first half.
24:30Wearing some bruises if we have to.
24:33Like on this tackle here, we're a little bit high.
24:36Perhaps ramp up enough.
24:38We spoke about not playing out the back too much with them
24:41because it just brings them on in terms of line speed.
24:44And then being patient once we get into the 22.
24:47We had one occasion where Tom Roberts got his hands through
24:51and looked for the offload.
24:53We think if we're keeping the ball quick and retaining possession,
24:56then we should be converting.
24:57You already seem to be playing a little bit wider off Tom Curtis
25:01rather than forwards off the base.
25:03Has that been something you spoke about?
25:05That's just Tom Curtis for you.
25:07He puts the ball through his hands a little bit more.
25:09He hasn't seen much rugby action start this season.
25:11So I think he's enjoying himself out there.
25:13But this is what we talked about.
25:15Not having needless turnovers in and around the middle of the field
25:21because they're dangerous in the back three, as we know.
25:24So just making sure we're making good decisions on the ball
25:27and making sure we're making good decisions in the middle of the field.
25:30Just before we let you go, Alex.
25:32How's Alan Reid?
25:34He's a thoroughbred, isn't he?
25:36He's got a hit point, though, which most players would just shrug off.
25:39But because he's so finely tuned,
25:41it affects his 10 seconds per 100 metre running rate.
25:46So we'll just put him back in the stable,
25:49look after him,
25:51make sure he's all right for next week all being well.
25:54We've got Saints next week, haven't we?
25:55Yeah, well, these high pedigree thoroughbreds
25:58need a lot of looking after.
26:00Highly strong thoroughbreds.
26:02Well, he's done his job for you tonight.
26:04Thank you so much.
26:06And I've also got a little side bet
26:08that if he scores three tries, I've got to buy him some training.
26:10So I've saved myself a few quid.
26:12Do you know, we were talking about that earlier on.
26:14You had to fork out your Tom Roebuck last season.
26:16Is it a pair of ear maxes?
26:18No, because I'm with Adidas now.
26:20So it'll definitely be something Adidas.
26:22You can say that. I'm not on BBC.
26:23Good man.
26:25Thank you so much for your time.
26:27And yeah, you can rest easy.
26:29Your wallet's not going to be troubled tonight
26:31by the looks of things.
26:33All right. Cheers, guys.
26:35See, that's what I like.
26:37When people have endorsement deals
26:39and they barely mention it,
26:41he said the name of the company five times there.
26:43Brilliant.
26:45I think when he was going through that movement,
26:47we saw that they haven't particularly listened to him
26:49at halftime because they were playing a lot out the back.
26:51He said they've talked about not doing that.
26:53They've talked about short passing,
26:55short passing, which,
26:57because you're expecting big carriers from sale,
26:59it really works.
27:01If you get that balance right of when you carry
27:03and when you actually get the passing,
27:05it really works.
27:07I think what he'll be worried about
27:09is particularly in the first 10 minutes of this half,
27:11the game loosening up,
27:13which sort of plays into the hands
27:15of a team that's chasing the game.
27:17They want a wide open game
27:19with lots of errors that they can capitalise on.
27:21So that's why he wants them
27:23in the first 10.
27:25The players are thinking different.
27:30Penalty to Newcastle, Tom Curtis offside
27:33and Louis Brown drilling that one into the sale 22.
27:36How they need a foothold in this game,
27:38how they need something to cling to,
27:41to build from.
27:45Three tries
27:47in three Premiership matches so far
27:49and a bleak picture
27:51of their cutting edge
27:53in this part of the pitch.
27:55Two visits, no points.
27:57Rubiolo in midfield here.
27:59He's got to be a target for them, he'd think.
28:01Blamire peeling off
28:03and the pass doesn't go to hand.
28:05It squirts out of the fingers of Jamie Blamire.
28:07Gordon wins it back.
28:09Sale take the penalty.
28:10Number 10 straight off his feet.
28:21Boys, I'm asking the wrong people
28:23because you played in such successful teams over the years.
28:25You've won so many trophies and medals,
28:27but what must it be like
28:29to be a Newcastle player right now?
28:32I think the hardest thing for them
28:34is to not accept it.
28:36Because when you've gone for as long
28:38as they have without a win,
28:40you've lost them.
28:42You turn up on a Monday
28:44and usually when you're playing
28:46you're so disappointed
28:48because you've lost a game.
28:50But this is their normal for them
28:52and how do they get out of that?
28:54It is very, very soul-destroying.
28:57Sale looking to inflict more pain.
28:59Bedlall ruptures them through the middle.
29:01The hands are slick.
29:03Robach 1v1.
29:05What a step.
29:07Sends Ben Stevenson
29:08halfway back to Newcastle.
29:10Tom Robach,
29:12predatory.
29:14Sale, ruthless.
29:17Well, it's an amazing finish at the end
29:19but beautifully created
29:21in the midfield
29:23by the pass from Dupriot.
29:25But lovely little break.
29:27Just that right foot step
29:29and accelerate out the back door
29:31and then that pass over the top.
29:33Absolutely stunning.
29:35It's Ben Curry,
29:36it's not Dupriot.
29:39There's the break from Bedlall
29:41out the back door.
29:43Curry's on his shoulder
29:45but rather than head down
29:47he realises the wide players closing on him
29:49throws it over the top
29:51and to be fair to Stevenson
29:53because he's so out of position
29:55and has to race over to that side
29:57he has to overshow his hand
29:59and the timing of the step from Robach
30:01perfect.
30:03Pretty much aces him.
30:04Out goes the pass.
30:07That's a dream as a winger.
30:09You don't think you're getting that.
30:11You see a forward who's known for his power game
30:13throw a left hander 25 metres
30:15right into your path.
30:17That was wonderful.
30:23Beautiful strike from Rob Dupriot
30:25kicking wonderfully
30:27and Sale playing some beautiful rugby, Austin.
30:29Well, this is a story.
30:31Look how well connected they are.
30:32The moment you drop off a one-on-one tackle
30:34that's an easy tackle
30:36and you get broken through the middle
30:38you're going to concede seven points.
30:40Yes, it took a wonderful pass.
30:42Look at his body shape
30:44left foot on the floor
30:46gives him the purchase to throw it off the left hand
30:48over the top.
30:50Great finish from Robach.
30:55They've done the first part of the job
30:57off the top from Chick
30:59Hutchison, route one
31:00heading up to the line
31:02held just short
31:04but penalty advantage
31:06might be more punishment coming.
31:08But they're over, they've got the try.
31:10Newcastle finally have something
31:12and Calum Chick, who else
31:14is over.
31:16It's a yellow card as well, I think
31:18to Karen Dickey.
31:20It was him that slid in
31:22and prevented the ball coming back.
31:24Did wonder whether they'd lost control of the ball
31:26as they went over the line
31:28and I wondered whether the try being scored
31:30by Dickey being yellow carded
31:32but it hasn't.
31:34Good decision from Carl Dixon
31:36because I think
31:39yeah, it comes in from the side
31:41and then blocks the ball.
31:43So definite yellow card, really good decision.
31:45And then
31:47let's just have a look as he goes over the line.
31:50Just keeps it under his torso, doesn't he?
31:53Regardless of whether
31:55the hands start to lose control
31:57the ball's put down by the body.
32:01Ethan Grayson chips over the conversion.
32:0335 points to 10.
32:05Newcastle
32:07after close to 50 minutes have a try.
32:19Chick once again for Newcastle.
32:25This time they're going to give it some air.
32:27Grayson, Hutchison
32:29not enough on outside.
32:31Curry boys hunting.
32:33It's Tom whose paws are on it
32:35but had a couple of bites at that one.
32:37Ordered off it.
32:41The sail tactics worked perfectly, didn't they?
32:44For a straight Newcastle.
32:46Get that kicking game.
32:48You keep kicking it to us
32:50we'll keep kicking it back.
32:52You've got to play from your own 22.
32:54As soon as they play they catch him
32:56force the error and then force the penalty.
32:59Newcastle have conceded seven penalties tonight.
33:02Six of them coming in that breakdown.
33:04Is that the influence
33:06even the presence of the Curry brothers
33:08even if they're not directly involved
33:10in every one of them?
33:13His hand under the ball, isn't he?
33:17And Paul from it comes in from the side
33:19hand under the ball clear release
33:21but because he's got the hand on the ball
33:24the ball carrier feels he has to keep it
33:25the leg drive going, has to keep going
33:27which takes him further and further away from his support
33:29makes it more difficult to clear out
33:31then Curry waits for him to drop
33:33and clamps on the ball
33:35and Paul from it has to come in from the side.
33:41Newcastle were averaging 14 points
33:43scored a game last season
33:45they're worse off this time around
33:47three against Bristol
33:4914 against Queens
33:5110 against Leicester
33:5310 here tonight.
33:55Grim, grim numbers.
33:57Tom Curtis winds down the clock
33:59and adds some more gloss to the sales scoreline
34:0238-10.
34:19Curtis, Carpenters looking for this up the inside
34:22where's the bounce going?
34:23Bedloe on hand as well
34:25he lost it forwards
34:27little Joe Davis looking to spark something
34:29and right as advantage is called over
34:31Sale snapple it back
34:33it's Dupree up
34:35palming aside Falcons
34:38here they come again
34:40charging over the five
34:42Ben Curry
34:44van Rijn
34:46Salford's lungs
34:48loud and proud
34:54hands and feet
34:56Apokufo Adur
34:59looking for his first
35:01premiership try
35:07Dan Dupree
35:09this is where he can cause a lot of damage
35:11instead finds Curry
35:14Dupree again
35:16there's that leg drive
35:18and that oomph
35:20Doug Dale's in there
35:24War
35:26flipping his cattle around
35:28he wants the forwards to
35:30coming off themselves on that right hand side
35:32here's Dan Dupree
35:34ouch
35:36War
35:38Ben Curry
35:40Tommy Gordon drags down his opposite man
35:42dozen phases here for sale
35:44Apokufo Adur
35:50Ben Curry's down and hurt off the ball
35:53away to the right out of picture
35:55gingerly getting back to his feet
35:57there he is
35:59bottom of your picture bottom right
36:01sale continuing to
36:03batter away at this Newcastle threshold
36:06be some bruised Falcons bodies out there
36:09Beaumont's
36:11good shot coming in from Chick
36:13lined up Josh Beaumont
36:15Dupree up
36:17sticks it on the toe
36:19sensationally
36:21and score
36:25king of the skies
36:27and sale king of the north
36:33well we've spotted early on in the game
36:36how narrow Newcastle are
36:38which makes the last defenders job
36:40on the cross field kick
36:42almost impossible
36:44but how about this take
36:46a long way to travel
36:47but gets up early
36:49uses his left shoulder
36:51to block
36:53any attempt to get to the ball
36:55and then
36:57not only does he come down with it
36:59but lands in a way
37:01that allows him to get back to his feet
37:03and just get back
37:05and up and over the line
37:07before the Cavalier arrive for the Falcons
37:09brilliant shots from the cine cam
37:11in goal area
37:13bringing you right into the heart of the action
37:15like no other on TNT sports
37:17kick dressed wide
37:19from Tom Curtis
37:21but tell you what
37:23let's bring in the sail sharks playmaker
37:25George Ford shall we George
37:27you're out injured at the moment
37:29are you a frustrated rugby watcher
37:31or do you quite enjoy being up there
37:33with a bird's eye view
37:35not always like to be playing obviously
37:37but obviously when you can
37:39you try to influence
37:41and be as part of it as much as you can
37:43so I'm enjoying this side of it
37:45but looking forward to getting back out there as well
37:47perfect two weeks running
37:49he's big, he's powerful
37:51he's great in the air
37:53he adds such a serrated edge to your attack
37:55yeah he's been brilliant
37:57as of the other back three
37:59Reedy and Karps, Tomoflaty
38:01we put a lot of emphasis on them
38:03to make things happen for us
38:05I think that's one of the most crucial positions
38:07to be a good attacking side
38:09is for them guys to exploit space
38:11spot space
38:13and get their hands on the ball
38:15and they've been brilliant at that
38:17what about you as a field coach
38:19are you in and around the environment
38:21are you driving things
38:23even though you're not able to play
38:25yeah for sure
38:27your days are probably a little bit longer
38:29you're in earlier doing your own stuff
38:31your rehab stuff
38:33you're doing everything you can
38:35to try and get back out on the field yourself
38:37but you make sure you're in every meeting still
38:39out on the field
38:41trying to influence as much as I can
38:43like I said
38:45it's been good, I've really enjoyed it
38:47I think it'll be a couple of weeks
38:49maybe even quicker than that
38:51so yeah we'll take it day by day
38:53but looking forward to it
38:55good man George, thanks for your time
38:57we appreciate it as always
38:59thanks mate, cheers
39:01just one thing I've noticed
39:03probably over the first few weeks
39:05of the premiership
39:07is the referees seem to be a little bit more lax
39:09this season on the clear out players
39:11going into the breakdown
39:13I've seen a lot of people go off their feet
39:15latching on, that second player
39:17going off their feet
39:19and the players have gotten on to that
39:21so they know that
39:23Karl Dixon today
39:25has been letting players get away with it
39:27so they're going to do it
39:29so when Sayle were camped down on Newcastle's line
39:31before that Roebuck try
39:33there were loads and loads of breakdowns
39:35where Newcastle just couldn't even get a shot
39:37at the ball to compete
39:39so getting into the red zone
39:41is a big part of scoring in this game
39:43and Newcastle just haven't been down here enough
39:45and held on to the ball enough
39:47they've been down here
39:49just the one score to show for it
39:51and they're not going to come up
39:53with anything this time
39:55Austin you've been taking a closer look at this
39:57I just think it's a really good example
39:59to show for kids at home
40:01how to actually gather your feet
40:03so if you watch Roebuck on the outside
40:05he's got loads of time
40:07but watch what he does with his feet
40:09loads of little small strides
40:11little step, step, step
40:13and then one outside knee to get the height
40:15so he finds himself in a good jump zone
40:17a bit like the high jumper
40:19trying to get over the bar
40:21really good example that
40:23for any winger or in fact anyone
40:25finds himself in that wide channel
40:27you've got to gather your feet
40:29before you try and get some height
40:31where would he rank
40:33in the pecking order for England wingers
40:35I think he's up there
40:37I think there's a lot of competition
40:39but I think he's very much
40:41if you want to play a kicking game
40:43there's not many better than him with a high ball
40:48lost his feet
40:5217 and lost his feet
40:54this way right
40:56Newcastle with a tap and the trundle
40:58into the final four minutes
41:02looking for an elusive second try
41:04looking for something
41:07to potentially end this note
41:09with a little
41:11small but important note of positivity
41:14hands and feet
41:16here's Chick
41:18tireless to the last
41:20that's his 10th carry of the night
41:22Davis
41:24Grayson standing deep
41:26fake the kick
41:28and inside for Jack Metcalf
41:30the debutant
41:32once a sail sharks man
41:34Hutchison
41:36he's been busy too
41:38that's his 11th carry
41:40Davis
41:42again the batter on again
41:43Freddie Lockwood makes good headway
41:45Hutchison
41:49Davis went blind
41:51Louis Brown
41:53there to splat him into the mud
41:56here's Adam Scott
41:58the young lot forward off the bench
42:02got a full minute of
42:04bludgeoning and battering and buffeting
42:08can they find that incision they need
42:10Lockwood again
42:11good carry from him
42:13De Bruyne
42:15chopped low the South African
42:17his legs going furiously
42:19but they're going nowhere
42:21and Spencer loses it through the shoulder
42:23and Sale have it back
42:26and Tom Roebuck doing his best
42:28Ardis Saave impression
42:36Varney Dover
42:38for the knock on
42:40Sale having soaked up all those punches
42:42having taken the sting of another
42:44fruitless Newcastle attack
42:47they'll just calm the tempo down
42:49Ward to touchline
42:51and Ben Ure-Gallagher
42:53Premiership player of the match
42:55I thought Luke Karandiki had a really good game
42:57while he was on the field
42:59great to see him coming back to his best
43:01in time for the international season
43:03Ben Curry was outstanding again
43:05we know the work rate that he gives
43:07but both sides are doing well
43:09both sides of the ball is carrying
43:11is chasing back
43:13but for me on his 50th cap for Sale
43:15Joe Carpenter has been outstanding
43:17we've seen some unbelievable takes
43:19under the high ball
43:21and some unbelievable handling
43:23which has been a big part
43:25of Sale's attacking prowess tonight
43:27so he's our Gallagher Premiership
43:29player of the match
43:36he and Tom Roebuck used to share a flat
43:37until the lease got a bit expensive
43:39and they decided to move back in with their parents
43:41do you reckon Ben Curry thought
43:43he was getting the man of the match award Ben
43:45yeah
43:47he's giving some filthy side-eye to that camera
43:49as we panned along the dugout there
43:51not this week Ben
43:53he played well
43:55Joe Davis hot-stepping through the bruisers
43:57Spencer
44:02McCallum
44:04reverse lights flashing
44:05Hutchison
44:07Grayson
44:09again finding turf
44:11rather than Newcastle hands
44:13and Sale are flooding through like demons
44:15Rob Duprea
44:17lashes it
44:19almost through the hands of a Falcons player
44:21Brown goes back there
44:23he gets melted
44:25Roebuck again leading the chasing charge
44:2780th minute of the match
44:36close to two years since Newcastle
44:38have beaten Sale
44:40more than seven
44:42since they've won here in Salford now
44:45and a quarter of a century
44:47of matches
44:49without Premiership victory
44:51Joe Davis won't go through a pocket for
44:54he's been lively Joe Davis
44:56hasn't he since he's come on
44:58he's added a nice bit of spark from the base
45:00picked up the tempo
45:02brought the forwards onto the ball
45:03well
45:05use it now please
45:07Steve Dime has been talking him up a lot
45:09in pre-season
45:12we'll see him get his first start
45:14in the coming weeks
45:16big game next weekend for Newcastle
45:18Friday night with us on TNT Sports
45:20against the Exeter Chiefs
45:22who pending the result this weekend
45:24the only other team in the league
45:26yet to register a victory
45:28thank you
45:30bit of an off lead
45:31bit of an off lead
45:33putting a lot of pressure on them
45:35what does Rob Dupre do here
45:37oh
45:39that belongs in the octagon doesn't it
45:41wow
45:43that's good
45:45oh that's lucky
45:50don't rub them, count them
45:53that's probably a red card
45:55down the road at Old Trafford
45:57we're tougher than that in rugby
45:59final play of the match
46:01to just call it a day
46:03they've got their bonus points secured
46:05and they've got another
46:07big win secured too
46:09Newcastle Falcons
46:11winless streak goes on
46:1325 premiership games
46:15without victory
46:17as Sailsharks continue
46:19their dominance
