Providing a local view: Vince Goodyear, the regional manager for CBL, which has a depot in Saltash said the tolls have a direct impact on local businesses
Transcript
00:00My name's Vince Goodyear. I work for CBL as a regional manager. We have a depot in Saltash and Cornwall.
00:08We've been established there for over 30 years now.
00:12We run lorries and vans and trailers, company vehicles that cross over that bridge every day.
00:19We also see the impact on our staff when they're coming from Plymouth or they need a hospital appointment at Derriford.
00:27The continuous increases are just getting to a point now where it's becoming quite difficult for a lot of local people.
00:34We're having to account for our staff having to pay extra, whereas the direct costs for us are obviously the lorries crossing and things like that.
00:44We have the indirect costs of what we need to do for our staff by increasing their wages to allow for the additional tolls.
00:50It does seem to be that those tolls keep increasing and the debts for the bridge just keep rising.
00:58There seems to be some mismanagement there.
01:01The government has stepped in on many different occasions for other areas and I think it's about time they looked after the south-west on this really.
