00:00The sky has been putting on a veritable show lately, with eclipses and gorgeous auroras
00:08stretching much further south due to increased solar activity.
00:11But soon we're going to get another cosmic show, this time in the form of two comets,
00:16which are expected to pass Earth before Halloween.
00:19Comet C-2023-A3 should be visible to humans for upwards of two weeks starting October
00:2512th.
00:26In fact, this video of that comet was recently captured by NASA.
00:29Meanwhile, the other C-2024-S1 will initially be viewable on October 24th.
00:35What's wild about that one is it was just discovered on September 27th, likely having
00:39emerged from the Oort cloud in the far reaches of the solar system.
00:43It also may be short-lived as well.
00:45Experts say that on its orbital path around the sun, it will likely pass within just one
00:49million miles of it before swinging back to Earth around Halloween.
00:52However, during close passes like that, the comet may disintegrate and off-gas a ton of
00:57its icy material, which is responsible for a comet's iconic tail, meaning maybe we'll
01:01see it again and maybe not.
01:03And while one of them will make a close flyby of the sun, neither will come anywhere near
01:07our planet.
01:08The first will only zip within 44 million miles of us, with the second only coming within
01:1380 million miles.
